I have been to the dentist this morning and it wasn't so bad. Being a new patient I had to fill in some forms, medical history etc. I didn't have to wait for very long before I was called in. Today was just assessment day apparently. I was asked a few questions then tipped backwards in the dental chair. This chair differs from the one at my old surgery in that it is more like an examination couch. I half expected them to do my smear test while I was there. It is a comfy couch and tips right back so that you are lying down.

The dentist was a lovely young lady who explained everything as she went along. She started off by measuring my gums and counting and checking my teeth. She then described each tooth and gum to her assistant who wrote everything down, every filling, every missing tooth and every sign of gums receding and their exact location. I had 2 X-rays where my gums have started receding at the back.

She then explained everything to me about treatment which I need. Some of my fillings need replacing but it is only a small job which she will do over 2 appointments. My fillings are donkey's years old, I had them done as a child so they are probably long overdue replacement. I have made 2 further appointments, she will do the largest filling, review my X-rays and scale and polish at my next appointment. The second appointment will do my 3 smaller fillings.

All in all it wasn't a bad experience. Of course, I haven't actually had any treatment today just an assessment but the dentist and all of the staff were lovely which is reassuring so.........................Don't worry Margaret, when your turn comes I'm sure that they'll still be lovely.:D

I'm glad that things went well for you Lettie....I was thinking about you!
Oh and when my turn comes, my daughter will have to answer all the questions as I will be temporarily off my face on something or other....it might be legal and then again it might not:) !
