Can anyone help me to identify this old coin? We came across it tidying out a drawer.
It means Centenary of the province of (compobasso) May.![]()
I don't know if it is worth anything
More of a commemorative medal than currency I reckon.

I tried a quick search in Google but have come up with nothing specific. It's a commemorative medal -Cashy's translation is correct. Looks like it could be bronze to me and being over 100 years old it may well have some value - depends how many there are still around and if collectors want it!I,ve looked on the internet but all I can get with inputting the details is an Italian website. As I don't speak Italian I don't know what it is
That's what I did too but they were just general sites about Italian coins/medals and not that particular one as far as I could tell.I can't remember the website .I just typed in all that was on the medal into google.
I don't really know. My late father in law was Polish and served with the Polish Carpenian Rifles in Italy in WW2

A token for free entry to a house of ill repute?
No doubt your Dad was wise to keep the coin rather than appear on sick parade.

She is brandishing a whip so perhaps it's as well he kept it.
The medal mentions the Town of Campobasso in Southern Italy (see Wikipedia) which was the scene of heavy fighting between German and Canadian troops in October and November 1943.
