People who smoke in cars with children in will probably be the last people to obey such a law, they will probably do it whilst using their mobiles.

By the way, Accyman, The B.M.A. are quoted as saying that opening your car window has no effect. !!

The 'we' is my wife and I. If we ever offer you a lift I'll make sure 'we' both light up ,turn the air off and shut the windows! I'll happily make an exception for you
-My car, I can change my rules.

We would never smoke in a car with children in. We wouldn't smoke in a car with non-smokers in(even though some say they wouldn't mind in our car).
But to stop us smoking when on our own? Toxins 23 times higher than in a smokey bar? Hell, I'm inhaling this stuff straight into my lungs(yes, I know, I heard it's not good for you).
Having been in smoky bars(literally- part of the atmosphere) I don't believe the 23 times, with the windows slightly open you can see it all being sucked out.

More nanny state. What are the police going to do, start stopping cars and sniffing inside for evidence?
CSI arriving to carry the evidence away in bottles. I wonder if farts contain DNA?
It's all so damn stupid ... I'm unable to take it seriously.I can see it now ... the copper standing there, all attitudinal, demanding to know who fartedCSI arriving to carry the evidence away in bottles. I wonder if farts contain DNA?

You are half correct in your remark, Gordon, however, this is not a road safety issue, but a health issue. Parents who smoke in their car are just as likely to smoke in their homes with children present.
if i ever offer you a lift just grab the rope attatched to the wing mirror and hold on tight![]()
would they who smelt it dealt it stand up as a viable defense in court ?![]()

As I'll have a rope in one hand and a cigarette in the other, will you hold out the ash tray for me?

That fellow was a womanWhen I heard it announced it was yesterday on the radio, maybe the fellow you saw is their scapegoat in case all goes pear shaped?

Na Gordon I think that's defo five years, with time off for good behavior'Yes, officer, I know the car stinks of smoke and the ash tray is full, but I'm not allowed to smoke in the house so on these cold snowy days I sit in the car on my drive on my own private land and smoke'.
How would that sound if I have to try it? Do you think I'd get away with it?

Certainly treated better in prison better than some pensioners Gordon, Telly with Sky, hi fi, game boy nothings to good of these lads, no expense sparedAt least in prison I'll be able to smoke what I want(legal or illegal), where I want, when I want!
I know my human rights. Five years of peace from the do-gooders? Sounds good.

Knowing my luck I'd get Rosa KlebbDon't forget the conjugal visits, Jaysay. Perhaps in prison I'd get lucky!
