omg i was taking to someone about that the other day.... one of the forums i go on has recipes for smoothies and placenta related meals, there also other things that you can do, placenta prints, bury it under a tree, freeze it.... i will be nice and let sue, my midwife have it do whatever she wishes with it :D

I wonder what is going through a womans mind when shes eating a recently 'shed' placenta, hows about "i must be mental, maybe my brains come out with the afterbirth"....

its supposed to help you get better after the birth and some think it prevents post natal depression..

Eating human flesh is illegal in this and most other countries so I would expect eating placenta, even if it is your own is as well.

i watched something about eating your placenta not long ago on telly, it actually has no benefits for your body whatsoever

Young wives' tale

But there has been a longstanding belief among some new mothers that eating the placenta can yield benefits.

One supposed reason is that it can reduce the incidence of post-natal depression. It has also been claimed to have nutritional properties needed by women after childbirth.

But consultant obstetrician Maggie Blott dismisses the post-natal depression theory. In fact, says Dr Blott, a spokeswoman for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, there's no medical justification at all.

"Animals eat their placenta to get nutrition - but when people are already well-nourished, there is no benefit, there is no reason to do it," she says.

i dont care if it makes me a size zero super model....im not gunna be eating it.
