Pop Years

Gayle

Town Elder
Tackler
Duran Duran, Japan, Bananarama, Haircut 100, Human League, ABC,Scritti Politti - I could go on.

1982 - my top pop year. I was 18, borderline New Romantic/Goth and so into music.

When was your year?

I would say my year was the early to mid 70’s.
Mud, sweet, suzi quarto, status quo etc.

But I wasn't very good at doing the rubber legs. :D

My main music years were 70 to 74, T Rex, The Doors, Eagles, Leo Sayer, Carpenters, Suzi Quatro. I was listening to Galaxy with a bunch of schoolkids at work this afternoon and the music of today just doesn't hit the spot somehow. Could I have been experiencing a senior moment?.

Just been watching that to Gayle it was very good :)

Hmm my year? Though I really like the 80's and aquired the nickname 'lil Miss 80's' from friends because of my liking for it, I would say mine was '93 .... I think. I was young, single, carefree and the music out at the time was music to dance to. I only need to hear Real McCoy and it puts me back in the Lar De's.

Thanx Gayle I'm feeling all nostalgic now lol! :D Better go and root my old casettes out :D

But did you have tiger feet, Len?
I was a smoothie at that time, complete with electric blue parallels and a green fish tail parker but then I so the light , I advanced and become a greebo, black back, smelly etc complete with badges studs and tassels. I even had a BSA C15 motor cycle. :D

Yes, must point out that I was watchin Pop Years earlier and ALL my favourite songs and bands popped up!

2005 - The year i left school and 'the' festival year.
Ashcroft performing Bitter Sweet Symphony at Live8 after a 2 year hiatus; Pink Floyd reforming and The Who - all on the same stage!
Also saw Oasis at City Of Manchester Stadium in late July - best gig ever :D

16 years old and ever so slightly anarchaic, the best summer of my life was backed up by the perfect soundtrack :D

I hope it stands the test of time for you!

1978-
Massively in love with Debbie Harry of Blondie, and was quite smug that I was into them before they charted this year with Denis.

The charts were full of late punk/early new wave to Disco. Everything from Siouxie and X-Ray Specs, to Sylvester and Chic.

I was thirteen, and was mainly wearing Italian suits, button down collar shirts, and very narrow suede ties. It was also the year when I started with a bunion, when I shoved my size ten, E-fitting plates of meat, into incredibly pointed shoes.

WE WANT YOU, WE WANT YOU, WE WANT YOU AS A NEW RECRUIT!

mez cant ever agree with you more , all these little arse wipes think they know it all but they only get up to dance to the proper stuff. they dont know music as it should be they get up to our music and they say to you how do you know this?you tell them it was made for us! they only get up and dance when the good old 50s/60s come on.give them a break let them listen to crap!

Any time from 1979- 1987 is very nostalgic for me. Among my faves were Gary Numan, Soft Cell, Bauhaus, Yazoo and Blondie. I would also dance along to Haircut 100, ABC, Human League, Depeche Mode, Spandau Ballet and many more. You could say that I liked varied music. I was never much of a Durannie, but even they sound nostalgic now.:)
