The name Wixted rings a bell, three brothers named Wixted, served in the Accrington Pals, one of them, James, was the first of the Pals to die after leaving England, for Egwypt. In 1951 there were no shops in Paradise St, but some opposite the baths next to The Junction pub. Mrs Wixted kept one. She had a daughter, Jean, now will be 70yrs. The potted meat would most likely be Marriott's from their workshop in Oswald St.
They tasted really good after swallowing a gob full of fluoride in the bathsThere used to be a good chippy across from the baths
