Well the private ambulance turned up yesterday at 1-15pm my appointment was for 3-10pm anyway he said we had to pick someone up in Clitheroe on the way so i got in the front and off we went we got to Clitheroe and as luck would have it the ambulance had GPS which got totaly confused with the new estate the lady was on hehe.
we did find her and off we went.
The little old lady we had picked up was going to have her pacemaker checked she was muttering to herself in the back but we where not taking much notice.
anyway we got to Blackpool now i dont know if you have been to BVH but to get to its main entrance you have to go past the place round the roundabout at the end of the road and keep to the left you cant turn right into the road the GPS was going nuts saying turn right 100 yards turn right , turn right now hehe
anyway we went round the roundabout and the driver missed the road to the left which ment we had to go all the way back to find somewhere to turn round and try again hehe.
We finally found the entrance and the driver dropped us off at the main entrance she went her own way and the driver said he would wait here for us.
i had no idea where i was going but the information centre lady was very helpfull and took me to pre-op assesment in the cardiac center which is a new annex that has been open only 2 weeks unfortunatly for me its at the other end of the hospital so it took 15 mins walk to get there .
by this time it was 2-15 they only see you at your apointment time so i had an hour to wait.
While i was waiting the old lady i left at the main entrance turned up and had her pacemaker checked it only took 10 mins she did not recanise me and went to reception asking if they could ring the main entrance to ask the ambulance to come round to the cardiac centre for her i had still not been seen the driver walked in and i could hear her say right i am ready we can go home now but the driver said no we have to wait for the other person she was not to pleased hehe.
i got in to in and had an ECG then the nurse checked what tablets i was taking and checked Blood pressure then said right i need some blood and started to take it out of my right arm but the vain colapsed and she could not get enough so it was on to the other arm for the rest she said if i cant get enough blood you will have to go to pathology and have it taken there i am having a bad day today hehe.
Then i had to wait and have a word with the doc who explained what they were going to do which is an angioplasty where they put stents in they are putting 3 in at £1000 a stent thats fine i said are you ok about it asked the doc i said well yes just very nervous about it he said everyone is.
he said they will go in through my wrist instead of the usuall place in the groin as i have already had 4 angograms and there is a lot of scares there he said you will have chest pain for a few hours after just like having an angina attack but that should wear off and if all goes well i will be in over night and then i have to go back in a month and have to take things easy for that month.
with that he said you can go but ring the hospital on sunday as they are moving beds and wards around into the new cardiac unit.
i said ok and left as i got to the reception the driver and old lady came in and as i was putting all the paper work back in my pocket she jumped into the front seat of the car this is what she had been mumblimg about all the way to Blackpool she wanted the front seat hehe
anyway thankfully i got dropped off first .
so now i have to wait till monday the 24th and see what happens oh well
