procrastination...

I believe I must be the worlds worst procrastinator as I have a terrible habit of leaving things right to the last minute... it drives me mad but yet I still do it! Reading mag's blog about ironing reminded me of how bad I was with it. The pile would be so high that I literally wouldn't have any clothes left before I would start it. Now as usual once I start I do the lot and then make the same old promise "I won't let it pile up like that again" but then I always did. Now I send it to my friends every fortnight and she brings it back all nicely pressed and on hangers... I know makes me sound lazy but I hate it sooooo much and she likes ironing and the extra cash comes in handy for her too (so she tells me). I wish I could say that my tendancy to put things off was just with ironing but it's not it affects practically everything in my life... At work, given week to produce a report, guess who's rushing at the last minute to get it finished. Going on hol, yes I'm a last minute packer. Decorating the house... Just had whole house refurbished including loft converted, then it's taken me a year to decorate and I've still got one room left thats piled up with stuff from when the work was going on. If it seems too big a task then I leave it and leave it until its just soooo gigantic or coming to a deadline that I have to do something. I think another reason for putting things off so much is for eg.... If I decided I needed to have a sort out in the kitchen then I'll think ..... ok I'll do a couple of cupboards today and couple more tomorrow and so on until it's done...No not me. I start and can't stop until I've finished or my back gives way, even if that means I'm still at it 3 or 4 in the morning. I become obsessive with getting it finished and doing it just right!

Can you imagine me in some jobs ....

paramedic.... Me > "It's ok we can set off in 5 mins we'll get there in time to get them breathing again"

Midwife... Me > " Yeah your fully dialated, but I'll just sit down and have a cuppa and get back to ya"

Goalkeeper (which I actually was for a while for Harrogate Ladies)... Me > "Nah there's no rush they're on the edge of the box" as I took a swig from water bottle sat in goal.

Train driver... Me > (grabs station announcers microphone) "Sorry the train is delayed due to leaves on the line"

anaesthetist...Me > "It's ok you start the op I'll knock em out in a bit"

Emergency plumber... Me > "Your flooded? ok open the front door and let the water out, I'll be down week on monday"

Really is too scary to think about what damage I could probably do in some jobs isn't it?............

It's awful, I'm the same and now I have the time to do it but still leave it until the last minute.
The only good thing is when you do clear a massive back log, you feel so rightous.:(

Omg it is like reading my life story. At the moment, I have clothes piled up everywhere to be put away in drawers...............CAN I BE BOTHERED??? NOPE......and I have been off work all week. I start talking myself out of thing like "oh well If I just relax today, then I can get it all don't tomorrow" phwaaaaa yeah that's what I think.
Hubby keeps asking me if he has any clean socks in his drawer, and I keep saying " no unless you have put some there"!!!!!!.............lmao, I have no motivation at the moment, But I will get round to it IN MY OWN TIME!!
