Yes, that'd be me! At least I am pushing 60 from the right side....I was 59 yesterday....but I don't feel any older.
I didn't do anything much to celebrate. Anyone who knows me will vouch that I am not big on celebrations....and before anyone gets any mad ideas about a surprise party for next year....I tell you....DON'T.(that is for my daughter who reads this drivel)
I have to say that the Queen got it right when she was talking about birthdays...as you get older they seem to appear with increasing speed.
Hubby thought I was 60 this time...and he thought that by telling me this it would get my back up.... but to be honest I couldn't have cared less......60 doesn't seem anywhere near as daunting as 30 did.
When I was 30 I spent the whole day weeping....as if I had turned into an old lady overnight......turning 30 seemed like a tragedy...but I view turning 60 as some kind of triumph.
So what did I do with my day yesterday? Not much out of the ordinary.
I cooked a roast for tea........Daughter brought me a lovely indulgence Chocolate Cake so when they visited me with armfuls of gifts I made them a cuppa and cut into it.......it tastes better when it can be shared.
I got some suede slippers with sparkly bits on from my sister in Brisbane......she also sent me some Sanctuary Spa goodies too.
Mutti bought me a large bottle of Lolita Lempicka perfume...she must be psychic because I was going to treat myself to some of that........I was amazed that she had managed to get her hands on some of that. She told me that she got my sister-in-law to buy it off the internet....how cool is that....78 years young and internet shopping.
Daughter and her family bought me novels.... they always go down a treat. Keane's new Cd...again, a top pick as I was going to buy it for myself....and some card making stuff...all glittery and sparkly. Well, my nickname isn't Magpie for nothing. Oh, yes and a large bouquet of flowers. They tell me that I'm difficult to buy for....but they all did alright.
Didn't I do well for an oldie?
