Questions....?

How is it that when you go into town looking like you've been dead for a month...then dug up....you see everyone and their grandma....and what is worse because of the sunshine....they all look summery and polished?

Another teaser you might like to answer......why does the beetroot always fall off the salad sandwich when you have white pants on?

Now I've got those two little brain teasers out of the way, I can tell you about my day. It has been quite a long one. We had the tiny tornado for a sleep over yesterday. The weather was nice, and we thought he would enjoy playing in the back yard with the wheeled toys and the sandpit. It also gives his mum a chance to have some time to do things. They are in the process of selling their house, they had a showing tonight so she wanted everything to look spick and span. That is a bit of a hardship when you have two ankle biters hanging around putting sticky fingers where you've just wiped.

The lad played out for most of the day....only had a 'power' nap...barely an hour. He stayed up until after Corrie had finished, so he didn't go to bed particularly early......however, this morning at 4am he was chattering to himself in his cot. I got up at 4:30 to let the cats out and brought him downstairs to show him that it was still the middle of the night.....I told him that all the little dickie birds were still fast asleep.....and showed him the moon in the sky.....but daft....that lad isn't daft....no sirree bob......he could see daylight peering over the tops of the houses and so that was it....PING........the power was switched on.

I did take him back upstairs to bed and laid him in his cot and told him to shut his eyes....but no....he was having none of it and proceeded to give us a rendition of probably every nursery rhyme he knows.......TWICE !

I gave in at 5:30 and we got up......he was dressed and playing out in the backyard at 5:45.
I daren't have breakfast so early....I would have wanted lunch at 10am...so I hung on until going up for 8am........I could have gone back to bed round about then...but no......he was running round like he was powered by Duracell Extra Strong.......why can't the cereal companies make a cereal that saps their energy (no, I don't mean it really, or do I)?
Anyway hubby had to go and have some fasting bloods done so he went off to get those done leaving me to entertain the lad.

I had just a quick wash........daren't be in the bathroom too long...so didn't bother washing my hair....just threw on some light things and went and had breakfast. Hubby returned and we took the tornado home.....I didn't feel suitably dressed for going round town but that is what hubby had planned...you guessed...I saw everyone that I knew, and felt really shabby. I was in WH Smiths getting Mutti's mags....oh yes, and the CD...Learn French in a Week......(more about that later)
and Letttie walked in .......couldn't very well hide so we did exchange a few words.........then I met more people that I knew.....I couldn't wait to get home and try to make myself look something a bit more like someone owned me.
Salad sarnie for lunch....dreaded beetroot on the white pants....GRRRRRRR!

Went up to see Mutti and take her some things and then on the way back we called and picked up the tiny tornado for round two....oh yes, he had had a sleep at his Mum's so he was raring to go. We said we would have him over for his tea so that they could get the viewing over with without having to worry about two toddlers to look after.
Hubby said he was worn out.......WHY? OK, he was wakened early...but it was me who did all the child caring....the chasing, the playing, the tidying up(what a waste that was)....but he was tired.......Oh, I see .......I was using HIS energy up....that explains why I'm not as thin as a stick. So we have chased all over the back yard...played in the sandpit........had all of the toys out....and put them back again several times.......painted the yard with water(you know, you do drawings on the flags using just water and a paintbrush)...played hide and seek in the house.....watched one episode of Bagpuss...then had tea. Ma and Pa came over and picked him up just before 7pm......the lad was bathed and in his jimjams ready for bed when he got home.........and I am bushed too!

I have been collecting the Linguaphone CDs...Learn French in a Week.
Now that is what I call optimism.....I collected the Spanish Cd's too.
I have to say that I have been half heartedly learning Spanish since about 1980....so I thought these might just give me a helping hand.
I have tried them....but Spanish with an Accrington twang is a bit ridiculous......I'm going to Learn Italian in a Week next week....so I should be truly cosmopolitan.
In truth I can only speak 3 languages fluently.......English, Gibberish and Rubbish, which as you all know is just a dialect of gibberish.....I write it quite fluently too....Oh, but sorry, those of you reading this already know that don't you?

Hehehe..... I was thinking exactly the same. Why do I always run into everyone I know when I look dreadful? In my defence I had been washing my window frames which is the only housework I've done in months..

Oh Marg, I know you are bushed after looking after the ankle biter but it sounds like he had great fun with you. he'll treasure these memories for the rest of his life.

By the way when will he stop being the ankle biter? What happens when he's a towering teen, will he be a head biter?:)

Wonderful to read as per usual. Thank you. X

Sounds to me like you are more busy now that you are retired than when you were working!!! But all good fun I'm sure :)
