The neurologist told me last November to get my head round the fact that I'd never work again, because what I have is degenerative. I did eventually, though I was very sad to say the least, as I loved working, and paying my own way. After a fight with my private pension company, they took the veiw that I had been retired on medical grounds aged forty, and paid me a small lump sum, which paid for me to have central heated fitted, and a miniscule amount a week for the rest of my life.

My quartly gas bill came yesterday. Mum asked how much it was and was shocked to find it was the same as for her much larger house. She said that as my weekly income is basically the same as a pensioner that I should get the winter fuel allowance like she will, but of course I won't.

I'm a pensioner at forty, but unfortunately without the perks. I don't get a bus pass. or the pensioners reduced price of seven instead of twelve pounds at the football. I bet I wouldn't even be eligible for the glamorous pensioner competition if I ever went to Butlins.

I'm not complaining I'm just a little embarrassed, as Mum has just phoned up to say she'll pay my gas bill for me, if I bring it with me when I go for tea on Monday she'll sort it. I did of course play our game of saying no, she says yes, I say no, she says yes and wins.

I hate being so financally dependent, and living so hand to mouth. The daft thing is as I get worse I'll get more money. I'll even get money for a car, sadly though I'll be to unwell to drive, and they'll have probably taken my licence off me then anyway.

Moan over, as I'm sat infront of the halogen heater, with the central heating turned off until later tonight.

It IS bloody unfair.....but no-one ever promised that life would be fair. I'm sure your Ma is more than happy to help you out.....and I know it is probably very hard for you to swallow your pride and take the help that she offers. I would say......continue to play the yes/no game.....but be glad that you have your Mum to give you the help.....some folks won't have that option and will spend a cold winter.

Oh and Rindy I didn't mean that to sound so censorious.......I meant, accept gracefully!

When we went away for our Turkey and Tinsel I bought Muti and Debs a small gift to give on the fake 'Christmas Morning'......Muti said I shouldn't have gone to so much trouble......I asked her why she taught us to accept gifts gracefully......with the appropriate 'Thank you' when she broke those rules? She said she did it because she was my Mother and because she could!

Rindy. Lifes a B***h and these things are sent to try us. I said to someone not long ago there is alot of truth in that old saying.
There is always someone worse off than you.
Cold comfort at times I know.
If your Mum couldn't afford to do it,then she wouldn't.
She loves ya chuck.
Your her baby. Big has you are.
All she needs is a thanx Mum and an extra big squish.
You have a lot of love in your life Rind. That will see you through the bad days and nights.

I once asked my Dad at what age he'd stopped looking out for me, he told me that he'd let me know when it happened! It's part of the contract when you're a parent!

rind from all the sh-it always grows lovely flowers- and yer mums obviously one, a small comfort i know but they all aren't.
