Robbing the Infirm.

This morning l'm off to sit with P. whilst her friend goes to get her 'plates of meat' seen to at the clinic. They didn't ask me because they thought l might be too ill if l hadn't slept. l did sleep, but would have gone anyway.
l've known P. all my life, she's the lady who worked for my Gramps/Dad/ Brother. She retired at least three times, but kept making a come back, l think she just liked the flowers! Even now she gets upset, and say's if she could she'd be up there now rolling out teacakes and blocking pies! When l was little she'd open my palm then close it leaving a shilling inside, [yes l just about remember shillings!] Now we go through the same charade, but my palm is greased with a £10 or £20 note. l always refuse, she always insists, this goes on until l have to take it. [ My Mum and Aunt do the same thing paying for lunch in Accy, is it normal or just my family?] When l used to see her once a month when l was home, l didn't feel quite as guilty, now when l pop in for a coffee at least twice a week l'm racked with it. These two old ladies also bought me a fridge freezer and an oven when l moved into my new house. They were also going to pay for me to see the Specialist but l found out about it and managed to stop them.
She sometimes, not always, is'nt herself now, L. the lady she lives with she thinks is her Mother. She's always known me so far, and when she's drifting l know the tricks that can bring her back to the present- usually talking about the Bakehouse.
One of her son's has put her name down for a nursing home, which she doesn't know about yet. So l'll be off soon to sit and chat with and look at this visibly shrinking, frail lady. l know it's wrong to some, but l hope she will be taken before she has to go through the turmoil of leaving her home. Fingers crossed that she can't find her purse. The last time l managed to refuse, she cried and said it was the only thing she could still do for herself.
Sounds a bit sad, but if she's well we'll have a laugh as she has a wicked sense of humour. God Bless you P.

Garinda......you are not robbing the infirm, you are allowing them to do something that gives them pleasure.......and they get pleasure from your visits. Allow them the dignity to do what they enjoy.......even if you buy them a bunch of flowers with the money they have given you, that way you can both get pleasure out of a gift. Money is like manure......spread it about to do some good! Here endeth the lesson for today, Amen.
