Rotherham Thread

mab totally agree fella we need that predatory striker bishop, lowe, le fondre (again tonight with his puffy french name) but to get them i sadly believe is so well beyond our means and it's down to coley an jimmy to once again discover these nuggetts for peanuts

meself wi what we got would like to see Putterill wi Gornell fer a few starts, think that duo may bear fruit,, but i aint a manager.

We are powder puff in front of goal and never seem to be able to convert the half chances. My heart sank when Coley brought on McConville for Charlie, leaving Putterill still on the bench, for God's sake. Sure enough, his only contribution was a terrible miss, weakly shooting straight at the keeper's midriff from a great position in the box with an open goal beckoning. God, what an awful place to watch football, the home crowd silent until the last 10 minutes. Should have taken my binoculars.

I know any criticism of Coleman is seen as blasphemy but hang on a minute. For a start it's a 2-0 defeat. It might be the 1st defeat this year but how many have we played? It's also just 7 wins out of 27 played.

Stanley must have one of the biggest squads in the League, one that they can ill afford to keep yet almost a full team of 1st team Pro's never get a look in. Too many players know they will start every match regardless of their performances.

I'd like to see a few fringe players given a chance, but i won't happen. It will be same again come Saturday.

Sneaky edit there to change it to a 2 nil defeat Mr Beast !!:)

Yeah in hindsight it looks like a bit of a rollicking larry....wasn't meant to - just genuinely wondered how you would change things. We do have the squad players and I don't automatically defend coley - but I don't get to many games (certainly not reserve games) so don't really know how the others are performing.

Some players are in a comfort zone and others like Bateson dont get a look in.

I agree entirely about Jonny Bateson. What on earth has happened? He doesn't even make it to the list of subs now.

Not sure I agree about some players being in the comfort zone, though. I think we have a solid "first" squad of about 13 or 14, and those not in that group are really not up to it. That first squad generally plays well - the problem is the lack of a stiking partnership. In the absence of a Le Fondre or Bishop type player, surely it is time to let Terry Gornell and Craig Lindfield try to establish a partnership.

Its a funny one with Jon Bateson ( whos a very good player),the only reason I can think of is that in his last two starts the team conceeded 8 goals and got himself sent off when the game was lost against Bury.
I dont know if he responded with mom displays in the resis or not as I only saw the preston match and he was subbed.
The manager and coaches see all the players train daily,so to me ,its upto the player to catch there eye.
Same with Micheal Hall, who is a good player ,but couldnt force his way into the first team,

Not the best performance ever at the worse and only running track in the league! Gornell ran his socks off for nothing. Both Craney and especially Jimmy were just fustrated all the time and there keeper pulled of superb saves to stop us getting anything! Boring , boring game!

:mosher::mosher::mad:Worst football experience in my life! :)Beautiful stadium for Athletics in the summer but very poor for Football in the winter! Needed binoculaurs to see the nearest corner flag. Millers fans had no voices at all...miserable and cold atmosphere.:(:(:( Disappointing result because we did have the better of the play in a relatively poor match on a pudding of a pitch! Yes ours is not the only dodgy pitch... Today - Saturday; Millers were called off and so were Rochdale! We did have the chances to win it but we do lack that type of natural goal scorer who just has the "knack" of scoring goals.
Never seen so many bright floodlights :mosher:- there were more lights than Stanley fans but it was the Stanly fans that shone(and sang) the brightest (loudest).:jimbo::theband::wave8::wave8::purpleban:not_ripe::Banane34::Banane40: Yes 20 singing and tooting Ultras outsang 2,500 millers! Kipax was on the other side of the pitch near the dugouts and he told me that the dugout and the players could here us singing and supporting. Long live the ultras support - small but truly mighty!:D
