Rotherham United Match Thread...............

there was a heavy downfall an hour before kick off that probably puddled on the pitch. I set off at twenty past seven and it had just stopped. I'd have thought that had the ref waited a tad longer the rain would have drained - but there was no guarantee that the rain would hold off.

I didn't get onto the ground so cant say what condition the pitch was in, but given how well everyone keeps saying the pitch plays these days, it would seem a hasty decision.

:(:( Ref hid in his dressing room for half n hour and did'nt tell anyone or should say would'nt speak to anyone from stanley. We arrived at 5 past 7 and it had stopped raining although it had rained hard up to that point, radio lancs had given the match off before anyone at stanley new what was going on.. as for the pitch we managed to get in and have a look as Val will vouch the pitch looked playable,an 8 pm ko would have and should have been the better option imho.. a large rotherham following went home very unhappy:(:(:(

If both managers agreed then the referee would appear to have been right.

Might have agreed Dave but cooky was'nt a happy bunny about it,I was in the reseption getting the GtG stuff n the two Robs were running around to find out if game was on or not and that was at 19.30pm.

its a kipax picture Val, in fairness he did say it was behind the goal and not on the pitch,"couldn't find any" were his words!

Bury game was off as well, we were in Oaklea n a rotherham fan showed us his mobile saying match off, went bogs, came back n he shouted n showed us again his phone n this time it said another inspection will go ahead, So then we decided to walk down to the crown, got going down Livingstone Rd fer a min n the crowd started coming up, match off.:( What the hell was going on? Someone from the club i hope will be good enough to explain?:(

Pitch was deffo waterlogged down cowshed side Ref was out with ball at 7 ish and it wouldn,t go more than a couple of yards, I didn,t realize how much water had come down and I have never seen 2 inch of standing water on the back of the clayton end, on that note tho the pitch looked fantastic and seems to be the best draining surface we have had in a long while, if it had stopped raining so hard just a little bit sooner I think it would have been game on.

I only saw one inspection cashy an was there before seven but it wer,nt a good sign when Buzzer pulled the corner flags think that were bout half seven I left just afore kick of time an heard announcement as I crossed whalley rd.

Lot of mixed messages seemed to have been around last night in the Crown nobody seemed to know what was going on with messages of game off and no another inspection, what time was was the game officially called off?
