Now if you have read my last bit of rambling, you will know that I am talking about the new baby at Ma's house......and that I am responsible for this adoption.
The chihuahua is called Roxy(though Ma keeps on calling her Rocky).....and she is two years old. She was bought for a young girl.....hence the car boot full of doggy accessories that came with her......three coats(all in bright girly colours)......a roll neck fairisle jumper, a red waterproof coat.....a variety of harnesses.....all blingy and decorated with bows or gems.
She has a box full of toys....her own soft bristle brush.....special wipes for her eyes(to remove the brown tear stains that chihuahuas get).....and a doggy deodorant spray...oh yes, almost forgot....a doggy toothbrush.
After all no one likes doggy breath.
Roxy sounds like a hard nosed name for a girl.....and she is a tough cookie.
Even though she looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth...don't let those soft looks fool you.
Ma had a chap come to house yesterday to fix a couple of tiles on her roof.
He has done work for Ma before. He was used to Chico. He barked a lot, but there was no real attempt to bite anyone.
Roxy is altogether different. The man came in she barked at him and then made threats with bared teeth. Fortunately Ma had a good hold on her.
Today when we went up to see Ma, himself had got some shaved ham for her and a chicken thigh.
He was handing over the little parcels of meat to Ma.....and Roxy must have thought he was making a threat to Ma and went for him.
It made him jump because he was not expecting it.
She had been sitting there at Ma's side like butter wouldn't.
I told himself to give her a couple of treats, but he just threw them in her direction.
He said he still wanted to be able to pick his nose if he wanted to.
I suppose you can see from the picture on the previous instalment that they are both like the cat that got the cream......Ma says that although this little dog has only been with her for about 48 hours, she feels like she has had her forever.
She is enchanted by her.......and I am glad she is a feisty little dog. It gives me some comfort to know that if anyone got in, Roxy would make a big fuss......and would certainly do her bit to protect Ma.
