Salford game

Bloody ridiculous! Will affect the gate massively, I know we'll.get some money from Sky but that won't help.the atmosphere like bums on seats would

The Sky deal gives ASFC central funding of cira ?1m per season. EW was so happy with the ?100k we got in 2006.

For this all clubs have to adapt to get crowds into the stadium and get sponsors to understand their boards and other advertising will have an massive broadcast audience.

It's now up to ASFC to come up with solutions to get fans into the stadium.

We are kicking an idea around internally but any suggestions would be welcome

I/we know it give good money to the Club - that is not the issue :)

It is just another game, which will be harder to attend for some supporters - I know that most will not have a problem :)

As you know my friend, anything to help get more supporters into the stadium is a good idea and I understand fully that 50 supporters not turning up is nothing compared to the ?50k given to the Club :)

Just moaning as I am missing more and more games each season... :(

I know Holt does not like them, but flexi tickets are - in my opinion - a great idea to help get a few more supporters on :)

Also - and I know it is not great but - times are very hard financially, this plays a part....

I think we both know mate that even 20 years down the line, apathy rules...... winning teams get bigger crowds :)

Sorry, Mr T, ?central funding?, are you saying that we/the club, receive ?1m per season from Sky?

I am only five minutes away, so Thursday night no problem for me, but do feel sorry for fans further away, who may also have to go to work next day ( unlike me, retired for 20 yrs!)

I remember, several years ago, 2007 if I remember correctly, EW made one game, Torquay I think, totally free entry, resulting in I believe a ?gate? of 4500.

I certainly am not privy to the finances, but, would the TV money not help to at least reduce the gate cost per individual & hopefully increase the capacity, especially as this is almost a local ?derby?, & probably not much other live football being played on a Thursday night?

Most ST holders would probably attend anyway, so what we need to do is attract the ?floaters? from our surrounding towns, & hopefully a significant number of away fans, half an hour away, both of whom may even decide to make Stanley their second team.

How often do we have great reviews from away fans regarding the facilities at Whambley, we just need to somehow encourage more of them to come & spend money with us? since the local community, apart from our hardcore supporters are so apathetic when it comes to supporting their local football club, to the extent that certain members of the community would like to see the club shut down due to alleged ?excess noise?!

Just my thoughts, interesting to see the views of others!

The free game against Torquay drew a bumper crowd of 4004. Stanley won 1-0 with Peter Cavanagh goal.
But the next three home games reverted to crowds in the 1800s.
Lots of ticketing schemes have been tried over the years and the club has been doing a great deal to entice younger kids. But how many new fans have 10,000 free shirts produced?
Stanley core remains at around 1800 and any bigger crowd is inevitably a result of away fans.
As my old mum often said, people in Accrington have never really supported the football club, and some individuals even seem determined to do it harm.

It is really a question of positivity, meaning most people (interested in football) of Accrington need to be more positive in their thinking about ASFC, how can this be achieved?
The main aspect is by winning more matches and therefore climbing up the football table, thus achieving more fans.
“On Stanley On”

I admire you sentiments, Landhusweg, and it behoves those of us who do pay to support the club to remain optimistic.
But it appears that being a supporter for Stanley will always remain an exclusive club.

According to some records, in 2018/19 Stanley finished 14th in League One.
An unbelievable achievement. But there was barely any increase in the core home support.
There were three bumper (4K+;) gates against Barnsley, Sunderland and Derby.
There were eight gates over 3,000.
But there were twelve games between 2K - 3K and seven games with less than one thousand in attendance.

It may seem like a thankless task, but the club and the rest of us just have to keep plugging away in encouraging more brave souls to come a support a real football club.
