Yesterday was a good day at Stanley when we played Halifax. It was 'Raise Your Scarf Day'. Not having a scarf I was kindly loaned one of Harwood Red's son's scarves.
Usually there has been a crowd there of just over a thousand. Yesterday was offically a gate of 3,014, though it felt like a lot more, and was certainly the biggest crowd I've seen since I started supporting them last April.
There is a thread in the Stanley section about scarf day. Kipax posted a picture of hundreds of people scarves in the air, all except for me chatting away. Someone asked why I wasn't raising my scarf, like all the Ultras behind me. I replied that moments later my scarf was held by me and my cousin's little girl who had been brought by her Dad. Kipax promtly posted a picture of us scarf proudly held aloft, moments later.
We had quite a posse of Accy Webbers yesterday. Tealeaf, Doug, Lettie, Sparkologist, and I saw Accymel with her Dad as well.
We only managed a draw, and it wasn't the best football we've played. It did get very exciting in the last ten minutes though, when another goal would have meant three points instead of one.
We are still top of the league though. The thought that if we are still there at the end of the season, and re-enter the football league after an absence of forty four years will just be too perfect.
I might even treat myself to my own scarf for that historic event.
