Isn’t it nice to know some things change while others remain the same, constant, unchanged, reliable if you will, or better said, predictable! So it seems to be with certain characters within the vaunted halls of this most marvellous cyber community of Accyweb. From points of view aired, comments made seriously, flippantly, erroneously or humorously, we build a mental picture & an opinion of our fellow webbers that in reality could be either spot on or well wide of the mark.
Some seem most affable & likeable, outgoing & gregarious, while others appear morose, introverted, even timid, or the conspiracists, cynical & smartarses who are always good for provoking an exchange. Then there are the mavericks & irreverent amongst us who’ll play to the crowd or drop a bombshell then scuttle away to the sidelines, chuckling at the ensuing furore, indignation & outright mayhem! Then, just as the flames are dying out come mooching inconspicuously back with a zippo & full Jerry can.
I’ve had the good fortune (dependent on your outlook) to have actually met some of the characters who contribute (again that depends on your definition of contribution) to these pages & their subject material vast & varied as that is. There are others I’d like to meet just to assuage my curiosity or to reaffirm an opinion I’ve built up of them. Unfortunately though, there’s always the other side of the coin & as such there are a few people I’d rather not meet, no need for reasons it’s just so.
We are what we are & in the great scheme of things It isn’t really that important except to those close to us. Old Joe Soap may not be the nicest of folk, but what the hell, he’s not my family so I can live with it, even Tilly Mint is harmless enough despite her lashing tongue. At the end of the day this ain’t reality, it’s a cyber-world, it’s not as if you have to look into the mug of someone making the comment (which is probably a blessing in some cases
). That said though, it doesn’t make it right some of the things that are allegedly “Banter” more closely resemble “Bitchy” or at a pinch “Banal”. Ah well, such is life eh?
Right then, that’s me done for now, the flues have had a bit of a clean out & I’ve had a flex of the old grey cells putting half conceived thoughts down on paper (so to speak) & airing a few minor niggles, if you think you can see yourselves within these comments well that's purely coincidental as no names were cited to protect the guilty
just as an insight, if you can see the resemblance just think how many others are astute enough to notice too. Not my usually laugh along type of blog I know, but on occasion I have to pretend to be grown up & serious (this being one of those oh so very rare occasions ). Now! After all that sombre sobriety I’m off to spank the fridge! FYI, by that I mean grab several Beers & not beat the wife.
