Well today at 14.25 l have my bi annual meeting with Dr Doom. The first thing that'll put me in a mood is that his clinic is in 'The Old People's Mobility Clinic.' Being 40, this always gets me going before l meet His Highness. He's took a dislike to me. The first time l saw him, [when l paid,] he was charm personified. When l then opted out to see him on the NHS, after he had diagnosed me, this seemed fine. However when l was so desperate being sick 3 times a day for months, seeing things that weren't there and not due to be seen for another 4 months, l scraped the money together to see him once more privately. After a real struggle for us to get there he basically treated us like something he'd found on his dog's shoe, not even his. He said because l'd opted out he could only see me on the NHS. I'd spent an hour in tears trying to write 5 questions with my unco-operative hand, l wanted to know the answer to. Being the stubborn bugger l am, l sat there 'til he gave a yes/no answer to each of them in two mins. flat. He said he wouldn't charge me the full price. It only cost £80, instead of £140!
I last saw him in November, when he was held up for 3 hours. A room full of shakers, average age over 70 waited patiently. We weren't allowed to leave, [l was gasping for a ciggy,] eventually they brought a tea trolley round and gave us all a cup AND saucer of tea. l'm sure that all of the hospital would have heard our manic percussion efforts, Harrison Birtwistle wasn't in it! l was the last to be seen, everyone else had about 20 mins. with him. l was in and out in 5 mins. ln that time he told me l'd never work again, and that next time [today;] he would put me on the strongest drug, which has awful side effects and it only lasts for a few years, then l'll be left to shake until and if they find a cure.
Well l'm strong enough to know l'm not taking these drugs today. Let battle commence!
P.S. After giving us tea they left us, some of these people couldn't walk never mind drink tea from a dainty cup and saucer. l decided l'd better play Mummy.
