I have a week off work now. I say that very loosley because I actually have to go into work tomorrow to teach a seminar, but apart from that, I do have some time off.
I am ready for a break and although I am not going anywhere I have planned to make a big dint in the Christmas shopping. Full of good intentions I hopped on the Manchester bus yesterday. After hours of trailing around various shops and having no idea what anybody wanted, I came away with just 4 presents. The day wasn't a total washout though, I did buy a new blouse to wear for my graduation and I also had a nice lunch.
I need something to wear for my work's Christmas do. It is at Stanley House (posh), we have decided to push the boat out this year, so to speak. Our ward hasn't had a Christmas do for years as we find it difficult to get cover for us near Christmas so we tend to make do with a rather excellent Burn's Night celebration instead. However, nothing raises morale like a good do and God knows......we need a boost.
So back to my lament about needing something to wear. I was well and truly foot sore yesterday whilst I was trailing round the shops. There are lots of nice dresses out there but I have never been a dressy, skirty, person. I tried a dress on in one of the shops which made me look like I have the build of an Eastern European shotputter, so I gave it up as a bad job. To be honest, I had had enough of shopping by then and my heart wasn't in it. I came to realise that when it comes to dresses and skirts I have no idea what suits me. I don't even know which colours I suit so I might have to call for a second opinion. Grego will be busy with the baby for a while so I may have to take Sparks with me. I know that either Grego or Sparks will be honest and tell me if I look like 'the shotputter.'
I may have another look around on friday and see if anything inspires (fits) me.. After my foot sore day I had my usual nap on the X41 bus home and woke up just as the bus was coming down Abbey St..... I'm telling you, I have that nap well timed these days..
