Silly Season

[font=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular][font=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular] The new season is here (or over if you’re Newcastle) and so its time for great predictions, great optimism and great fools! Here are just a few that have embraced this period of time, known as the silly season.

"I have to focus on the players we have here now who I rate as good a squad as even Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in most respects.”
I am not sure what ‘respect’ Alan Pardew is talking about but I am guessing it’s the ability to sing ‘My Old Man’s a Dustman’.

"I didn't come into football to win money. When I saw I could do something with my feet I wanted to make sure people would remember the player that I was - that's all."
Thierry Henry shoots himself in his ‘special’ foot for any improved contract negotiations.

And worst of all…

"Phil [Neville] is a quality footballer who will, I feel certain, improve and enhance the squad we are putting together." David Moyes… it’s just wrong.

But for every Alonso there is a Harry Kewell, so which one of these lot will stick out this season?
