Did anyone else get woken by some sort of siren going off at about 4 this morning?? It was just like a constant tone, not a house / car alarm or anything like that. What on earth was it? (Other than very annoying )

Am so glad it was just me that heard it, am glad that I am not going mad.........yet :D

It was driving me mad though ended up getting up at 5am
could not get back to sleep once awake

I was the same but did manage to get back to sleep luckily but it was at about 5, and was woken not long after by the boys

If the siren was sounding for that long there must have been a serious problem at the plant, as yet nothing on the LT web site. I used to cringe when the siren sounded at Nipa (Cockers) it always meant problems:eek:

i'm in woodnook and i didnt hear it so it didnt wake Grace up .... when im a sleep if its not one of the kids.... i dont care :D

I think it was the fact that arsenic is stored/used there that stopped the re-developement of buildings like the Commercial, it is considered to dangerous nowadays to have people living to close.

It is the presence of the 1 tonne chlorine cylinders as to why there has been no re-development there.
I didn't hear any siren this morning.

I know it provides much needed jobs but is the price (risk to health to all living nearby) too much of a price to pay for such jobs?

I would like to see it relocated to lift the blight on Church - that area has enough problems without such added hazards.

Well i thought the tone was my ears ringing, as full of a cold atm and didnt sleep that great anyway. I swore blind it was my ears till other half said he heard it during early hours sounding like an air raid siren but to my ears was a pulsing dull mono tone i was worried my ears had gone, obviously working well then despite a cold lol.

Ist time i've heard blythes go off in the night - usually have mini incidents during the day when siren clearly goes off. Tho what does it mean to be that loud other than at the plant leakage etc, but to be so loud in the neighbourhood

How long has Blyth's been there, H & S are now more stringent than they've ever been

Hi I was woken up by the noise too, It went on for a couple of hours all together. There were other alarm bells ringing too, like fire alarm bells. I live high up (Willows Lane) so I have good view of Accy. Couldn't see a thing though, no smoke etc or blue flashing lights like there were emergency vehicles around. Why nothing on the local news if there a spillage? Do they try to keep it quiet so residents don't know how dangerous the place is? I didn't know until I read the blogs on here.
