Today it was little John's funeral.
I don't mean Robin Hood's mate.....I mean our little John...my youngest brother who died two weeks ago at the age of 55.
I wasn't sure if I would get to the funeral.....what with Ma and her up and down health and other things going on in my life right now.
I hadn't seen John for a long time. There were no fallings out or anything like that, it was just a case of losing touch because we both had busy lives, different lives.
Anyway this afternoon I got myself ready and begged a lift to the Crem at Burnley.
The place was packed out with people.
John had been the co-founder of the Sibes and Sled Dog Rescue organization.
He had worked for the last four years to get abused and ill treated dogs rescued rehabilitated and rehomed.
He was also instrumental in initiating an exercise track in Barrowford.
This track took up a lot of his time, the rest of it was spent picking up umwanted animals, home checks for fosterers and adopters, and looking after the kennels.
All in all it seems like he had a very busy life, but doing something he really was passionate about( according to those at the funeral).
Alas he died just ten days before this track opened.
Today the Crem was full and there were people outside in the glorious sunshine watching the proceeding on the video link.
What a send off they all gave him. It was hard to believe when I looked at the guard of honour snaking up the drive, that all these people had come to see the final journey of my baby brother...rascally scallywag John.
I know that where ever he is he would have been puffed up with pride seeing all those people.
Sleep tight John.
