Ma was lying in state on her bed...perhaps dreaming of what would be for dinner.
I sat by the window and idly wondered if Mez and Doreen had got to Lymington yet......and of course, had their first glimpse of the island.
I wondered what they thought of it and if they had been surprised to come through the new forest and find it populated by ponies and scrubby bushes...seeing as most of the trees were cut down by Henry the 8th to build his warships against the Armada.
I was told that it took something in the region of 150 mature Oak trees to build one warship...and he had more than a handful....of warships, as well as wives.
I was getting ready for dinner when my phone rang.
In my haste to answer it(fumbling in my handbag) I cut Mez off.
I sent a text message to apologise for my cack-handedness......and said I would speak to her later.
Ma roused herself reluctantly, and asked if the hotel perchance did room service.
I told her to get a wriggle on.....we were eating at the table like civilized folk, not in bed like hospital in-patients......she said that she felt chastened.....she didn't look it!
Ma enjoyed her dinner.....Pea and Ham Soup with crusty bread, then Roast Chicken and all the trimming(the stuffing was delicious.....it wasn't one of those cannon ball type balls of stuffing...it was soft and succulent)
Then she followed that down with Raspberry fool......I had the same but passed on the starter and the dessert.....but had a large glass of wine.
I spoke to Mez after our dinner.......we were trying to sort out some time for us to meet up......and Yes, Flashy it was a long way to go to have lunch with Mez and Doreen...but wait for the pics
.
Mez and Doreen were doing the Island Tour the following day...but they had Godshill on Friday morning....we had Godshill on Friday afternoon......aha, I could feel a plan forming.
Ma and I would get to Godshill under our own steam sometime during the morning.....meet up with Mez and Doreen, have lunch and then we could all come back on the afternoon coach. Sorted.
Now Thursday....what had we got planned for Thursday.
Osborne House. I hoped we would get a bright sunny day.
