Spring Cleaning.....or not

The lovely spring like weather has been a tonic....sunshine, blue skies.
Doesn't it make you want to take all your curtains down?
Take all the bedding off?
Fling the cushion covers into the washer?
Make up a lovely bucket of FLASH?
Get out the mop and bucket?

Well, to you it might sound tempting, but just writing about it has left me tired.

It is true that the sunshine does show up the dusty corners, the grimy paintwork and the streaky windows.(I only pay for the upstairs ones to be cleaned...cheapskate that I am)

I was talking to one of the ladies at school yesterday.....she was telling me that an elderly neighbour of hers had been up from first light, doing all these things.
My first reaction was 'WHY'....and my second one was 'how sad'.

I said that rather than being indoors doing her skirting boards, and mopping her tiles....she should have been out in the Park celebrating spring and enjoying the sunshine.....admiring the daffodils and the blossom which has miraculously appeared on a couple of trees in the last two days.

The lady I was talking to at school, said it was common for women to try and get all their spring cleaning done before Easter.
And anyone who didn't spring clean was a 'sloven'.........!
They not only did inside the house, but did the flagstones and window bottoms as well as cleaning the paintwork of doors and windows outside.

I know that in the villages of Spain, it is a womans responsibility to paint the outside of the house.....before Easter.

I think that with Easter so close, I have left all this work a bit late.......oh bother.
I'll leave it and do it next year.

I have made a bit of a start though......I bought myself a new pair of shocking pink rubber gloves and a pack of heavy duty cleaning cloths :D
