Still missing him....

Today is the 24th anniversary of my dad's death.
I can remember it like it was yesterday.
I took Ma a bunch of roses......neither of us said anything, but we both knew what they were for.
I went into town and on Broadway there was a collection for Macmillan.......so they got a bit of the folding stuff as a donation.......I told them it was better thay had the use of it than flowers at the cemetery.
Anyway life goes on. Sleep tight old feller.

Thank you for sharing this, Margaret. I like what you say about carrying our lost loved ones in our hearts.

Thank you Carolyn.
It is true that while you continue to talk about those you have lost.....they are not really lost.
We are sad they are no longer here, but glad that they left their footprints in our lives.

Thank you Margaret. I lost my Aunty Sheila on November 14. She was my 'second Mum' (my mother is still with us, thank goodness, but lives far away). I find I can talk more about Aunty now, and remember the good times. It does help :)

Oh Carolyn....I am sorry to hear that.
It took quite a while before I could talk about my dear old dad without getting upset...so you are doing better than me.....and I know that grieving is not a race.
It takes as long as it takes and is a slippery slope sometimes something will come along and knock you for six......you slide down the snake and have to start again.
Be patient with yourself and if while talking of your Aunty you found yourself getting upset, it is only because she meant a lot to you.
Memories weigh nothing at all in your heart.
