Stolen prawns.

We haven't over-indulged on the food front over Christmas.....though himself has sunk quite a few gin and lemons.....(me I've stuck to tea).

I just decided that if I didn't buy Christmas cake, then I couldn't eat it....and if I didn't eat it then I wouldn't beat myself up about the tight waistbands after the festivities were over.
I did buy a few mince pies, but I have still got most of those left......and I think the birds might be getting them very soon.

I made a normal Roast dinner for Christmas day....no extras, didn't make a trifle, himself had apple pie and custard......I didn't have a dessert.

Before Christmas, himself was in Asda and noted that the king prawns were on special offer.....his eyes lit up, they were 'Young's ' prawns too......he picked up a bag and fondled it......he said they felt like big juicy ones......and tossed them into the trolley.

I could see him salivating at the thought of noshing on these fat prawns......the only thing is he doesn't have them as part of a meal on a salad, he eats them as a snack with his gin and lemon.
So over the christmas period he has poured himself a big gin and lemon, tipped a good portion of prawns into a dish and grazed on them whilst watching TV.
Every time he has done this, Pasha our little black cat, has heard the freezer door open....the clip come off the bag, and the prawns (frozen) tinkle into the dish........it has even woken her from her sleeping position on the radiator shelf......and she has spent the next few minutes wrapping herself round himself to get a sniff at the prawns.

To be fair, he has always softened and given Pasha a prawn(or sometimes two).

Last night, the ritual was being followed for the last time.....there was just one portion of prawns left.
Himself tipped the frozen prawns into the dish.
Pasha, who had been sprawled out on the radiator shelf roasting her belly sat up, whiskers twitching and went into the kitchen with the hope of securing a tasty morsel for herself.......the Darts were on TV and something spectacular had just happened, which made himself leave his prawns on the kitchen counter(he usually puts them in the microwave to thaw.......not switched on, just out of the cats way) but the darts match had distracted him and he came back into the living room and got engrossed in the match.......anyway when the set was over he went back into the kitchen......there was Pasha, helping herself to two prawns.......himself shouted at her and she jumped down with one of the prawns in her mouth.......himself said he was going to wash the other prawns before he ate them.......I told him that he shouldn't eat the prawns because she may have had her dinner manglers round more than the two she had picked out of the dish for herself.......and that she was a catcher(and eater) of rodents.......this really put him off eating the rest.
So Pasha, and Lad(the white cat) shared at a dish of big king prawns and himself had to make do with crisps.

I nearly P'd myself with laughing......I hope my story makes you smile too.

made me laugh margaret,is pasha still breathing?:D always used to say, i will tolerate owt, but pinch me booze or grub n yer dead.:D

Me and our cat Chloe have this sort of agreement when i open a bag of prawns i have the full ones and she gets the broken ones.
but for some reason this tends not to work
she ends up with a lot of full ones and the broken ones as well.

Mick, I note that your cat is female......ours is too.......and they can twist the males round their little paws.

It is good to see that I still have readers.

i like it margaret ...reminds me of the time mum did a roast chicken one day ..set it out on the top .. and my dad shouted her she left it in the kitchen ..went to see what was wrong ... came back and the cat had knocked it off god knows how .. and the dog and cat were tucking in ...oh it was funny .. mum did her nut .. the back door was open and the dog and cat ran for it ... neither came back for a while .... dad just laughed and said burgers for tea .... by the way the cat was male ... the dog was male ....
