OK. I'll get back to english now.
I know it is the season of peace and goodwill to all men....and I really and truly am trying.
My patience is being stretched......and this morning I have to say that even by my own standards I have been 'tetchy'(or bad tempered).
I told you that yesterday all the gifts were removed from their hidey holes and wrapped tagged and some of them bagged as well.
I suggested to himself this morning that we take Ma's bag of goodies up to her house...along with stuff for some family members.
This would quite drastically minimise the pile of stuff that was lurking in the back bedroom.
The children came over from their house ready for us to take them to school......and I had asked himself not to let them come upstairs.
'Why?' he asks.
Now what kind of a dumb question is that....seeing as he knows all the presents for them are wrapped and on display in our bedroom?
He didn't listen to a word I said and Spindles comes upstairs and flings the bedroom door wide open...his eagle eyed sister is not a millisecond behind him.
OUT! I shouted.......and sent them scurrying downstairs.
Himself was at the bottom of the stairs and asked why they hadn't to come up.....
'Just think about it' I said...he sheepishly slid into the kitchen and distracted the two of them with apple juice.
Spindles wanted to know who all the presents were for.
I told him the lady across the road asked me to store the presents for her family, so that they don't peek at them before Christmas day....I told him that they were presents that grown ups had bought for other grown ups, as Santa doesn't visit once you don't believe in him.
Once we had dropped the tinlids off at school we decanted the presents to the back seat...there was a blue plastic carrier bag with a christmas present in....all lovingly wrapped in Chistmas paper, with ribbons and bows....and he said to me 'What is that?'
Well, by this stage I guess you could say I was losing it a bit, so I told him quite sharply 'It's a bleeding ham shank - what does it look like? Can't you recognise a wrapped Christmas present when you see one? - Oh, No, I forgot...you don't do any of that shopping, wrapping and tagging. You have a Christmas fairy(mug) to do it for you'.
Then I got in the car.....face like stone, arms folded and lips in a thin line.
Now, where did I put those 'chill pills'...and can you take too many at one time?
