The flow....

The flow that we were going to go with started for us(me and Nicola) just before 6am.
No lie in for us...no siree.
Those pesky tinlids were awake and ready for the off.......up and down their bedroom sounding like fairy elephants.

They 'crept' (well, that was their word for it) down the stairs to our floor and proceeded to whisper....a whisper which could have been heard over t he hooves of a galloping horse......about coming to see if we were awake.
There was nothing for it....we got up.
Being kind and generous, we let Greg sleep in until 10am.....well, he had driven us down...and he had gone for the tea....and he could sleep through the calling of the horn of Gabriel, so the tinlids hadn't had any impact on his sleep.

We made a brew or two......gave the children something to put them on until the Sunday fried breakfast was cooked.

The day looked a bit overcast, but it wasn't cold. We stood on the back step surveying the clouds, listening to the screech of the gulls.
We threw a crust onto the wash house roof and watched the hooded crows and the gulls scrap over it...yes, I know it is never a good idea to feed the gulls.
Every morning after that 'Billy Bird'(that was what we called him) sat on the roof of the wash house waiting for anything that might get flung his way.

Miss BD was sent upstairs just before ten with instructions to 'go and waken daddy'......Daddy reluctantly came downstairs in his PJ's looking still full of sleep......our day was already nearly four hours old.
A strong brew revived the man and he got washed and dressed and went out for a paper........just to pass the time while the bacon, sausages, eggs, beans, fried tomatoes and mushrooms were being cooked....a real belly buster of a breakfast, although I am sure that, strictly speaking, we should have called it brunch.

After this feast we lounged around...reading the papers, doing the crossword...and generally taking life at a sedate pace.

Until the tinlids decided that this was not what they had come on holiday to do...they wanted to go to the pier....to test the bounce of the bouncy castle, to speed round the go kart track, to eat huge dollops of Kelly's ice cream, to go in the arcade and make daddy part with some of his cash....and win them a toy from one of the machines.
So this was where the flow took us.....with a brief stop off at the beach for a bit of stone skimming...well, that was the idea, but Spindles could only make the stones go 'plop'......he will learn, in time.

The esplanade was filled with people....majorettes, baton twirlers, a princess in a carriage, it was the local carnival.
The children were asked if they wanted to watch the parade.
'No we want to go on the pier' was their very definite response.
So that was where we spent the afternoon......watching them climb up the bouncy castle and then bounce all the way down.
Good!....We had this mistaken idea that all this physical energy being used would make them tired...more likely to stay in bed in the morning......what a hope!

We watched the lifeboat go out to a rescue and come back with a couple of canoes on board...and the lifeboat dinghy sheperded half a dozen other canoeists back into shore too...we swan necked while the children played......we didn't see much.

It went very grey overhead and some big drops of rain started to fall...we decided that this was the signal to set off back to our temporary home...we had a chicken to roast for the tea.......salad to prepare, spuds to cook.

The children were not impressed and could only be consoled with the promise that they could come back and have more fun on the pier another day.

Pictures are:-
