The Kings Speech

I saw "The King's Speech", and thought it was an amazing film. I can remember my parents listening to the speeches of King George VI and Winston Churchill on the radio, but didn't know why they were so important.

I too enjoyed the film and learned about history at the same time , well deserved awards for both Colin Firth and supporting actor/tress .

So a well deserved Oscar for Colin Firth, plus Oscars for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay......

Well Colin Welland did famously announce 'The British are coming.' When he collected his Oscar for Charriots of Fire in 1982.

What he didn't say was they were coming by rowing boat.

:D

British films and actors have received many nominations, since Colin Welland's infamous proclamation in '82.

Slumdog, Ghandi, Emma Thompson, Brendas Fricker and Blethyn, Daniel Day Lewis, Helen Mirren, Michael Caine, Julie Walters, Helena Bonham Carter, Nick Park.

The Brits are usually well represented most years.

We're good at dressing up, and playing Let's Pretend.

:D

But have you noticed that, whenever they cast a baddie in an American film, its always an Englishman.

Usually Gary Oldman.

We're also known for being able to deliver a withering put down.

If you watch the film you might feel differently. With his horrific speech impediment, even that attempt was a triumph.

Very nice movie. I really liked the concept. The person who played doctor in the movie was really amazing. Dialogues were also very effect & you can forget them easily. Other thing this movie was one of the best movies of 2010. The Kings Speech is very important because there may be prime ministers & ministers but people respect & have faith in the royal families. They want them to talk for them. They had right to represent the whole nation.
