The rain stopped.

We must have been in the Cathedral for almost two hours....as we were leaving I put a contibution into the kitty.
I feel that if I have taken pictures and seen the sights...listened to parts of the guided tour(all done bu knowledgable volunteers) then it is owed.
.These large historic buildings still need to be maintained, lit and heated...and I am sure that the collection plate from services does not do it.
I also feel like I have paid a licence fee for taking pictures(and memories) away with me.

It is the same with Museums...many are free, but ask that you give a donation...and I do because my conscience pricks me if I don't.
I feel like I have 'stolen' the pleasure of the experience.

When we emerged from the Cathedral it was still very grey, but it WAS fine.

Spindles asked if we could go somewhere for afternoon tea...he said he could just manage a nice slice of cake...seeing as he did not have a pudding after his lunch.

I said that we could go to Muffin Break in the shopping Mall.
He had a pot of tea and a very large slice of Red Velvet cake. I had a cappuccino and a slice of the same cake...well, I was not going to sit there slavverin while he guzzled his cake...no sirree Bob.
Very nice it was too.
Now we had to do something to burn off the calories.

We opted to do the city walls walk...and along the way we were going to visit a place called 'Sick to Death'.
this is a ghoulish collection of medical stuff through the ages...and it was right up Spindles street...he loves stuff like this...especially if you can handle the exhibits and have your picture taken holding a medieval skull(I think that these days they might be resin replicas).
We rocked up at the place to find that it has closed down. I should have checked before we set off, but no matter it was on route to where we were going.
We headed along the walls to the Riverside.
I thought we might take a boat ride on the River.
That did not work out either. We had just missed a boat and the nexr one was not leaving for another half hour....the trip was half an hour or so,,,that would be cutting it fine to get back to the pick up pont for our return trip home.
So we spent a bit of time walking the river bank and watching the local fire Brigade undertaking some search and rescue stuff.
It was hard to determine if there had been a real incident, or whether they were just having a practice...we came to the conclusion that it was just a practice as we did not see them find anything interesting.

Spindles was hoping to see something ghoulish after his disappointment at missing 'Sick to Death'.

It was, by this time, time to set off back to Love street.
We had about half an hour to kill.....so we went for a drink in Wetherspoons.....a nice cold lager for me(the coffee made me thirsty) and a smoothie for him.

We drained our glasses and headed out into the street...within just a few minutes the coach pulled up and we got on.
Within minutes, Spindles was asleep.
These young folk have no stamina.
we hit traffic coming home so it was 7pm when we got back....another great trip under our belts.
Where to for next time.....?
Haven't decided yet!

Some more pictures to give you a taste of our day.
