The Wedding......

Although the wedding wasn't happening until Saturday afternoon......we were to go up to Gretna for Friday afternoon.
I had to be over at Ma's by lunchtime.
When I got there Ma was in a quandary about what to pack.
She was undecided (still) about what to wear.......I told her that we could pack all three outfits and she could decide on the day.......so while she was having a bite to eat, I packed her a small bag....asking her all the while if there was anything else she wanted including.

Ma was also taking with her, her 'spare' wheel chair........this was going to be given away to a friend of the bride who needs a wheelchair....so although it was going with us it wouldn't be coming home.

Ma has her usual chair and also another 'spare'....so the one being given would not really be missed.

I told you that I thought I was travelling fairly light, but someone had packed a full pipe band in my small black weekend bag.
My problem, if you can call it that, is that i like to be covered for all eventualities.

I had two camera's and the chargers and stuff for each of them, my phone and phone charger(now, I would have loved to have left this at home......but hubby likes to know what I am up to).....hair straighteners.....girls, you know the kind of thing......anyway suffice it to say, my bag was full.

Stuart(the groom) arrived at Ma's by midday.......and we went to their home to pick up the bride to be......and lots of stuff that she was taking up there.

We were going in convoy......us in Stuarts car......brides sister with the cake, delicately resting on the back seat....and padded so it didn't suffer any kind of damage on the journey......the brides father in his car.....with all the kilts and doo-dahs that go with a highland themed wedding......the Matron of honour with the brides gown and the dresses and flowers for the wedding.

We were heading off to Lancaster, where other family members from Malvern and Gloucester would be waiting, and also the contingent from Sydney....that is Sydney Awstralia!

It was a blazing hot day...beautifully sunny....and we spent a good 45 minutes at the services in Lancaster becoming acqauinted with all these strangers(soon to be friends) over a cup of coffee.
It was all very joyous and good natured.

It all seemed to auger well for a great day.

to be continued........
