Tom Bender

Years ago, we had a Sunday League match which was cancelled just after Half Time, due to a broken leg, and the ambulance taking ages. We were 1-0 down at the time and, as manager, I offered to give them a goal in the rematch. The ref said he couldn't start it 1-0, but we could stand aside and allow them to walk the ball into the net from kick off. The opposing manager put the suggestion to his players who, although flattered with our offer, declined.

The league were overjoyed with the sportsmanship shown by both teams. The community of Football is the winner sometimes...

Rob Heys has just posted on twitter that Tom has been released from hospital.

A Great sigh of relief, some rest and a but if recuperation and he'll be back in no time!! Get well soon Tom xx

im a morecambe fan, yes accrington and ourselves are rivals, but when something like this happens, nothing else matters. Am sure I speak for everyone at Morecambe Football Club that i wish Tom a full and speedy recovery and hope he's back playing for Stanley very soon

Smudgie , what a nice gesture, how about a large banner welcoming Tranmere back or even thanking them for their support ? just an idea.

Wonder if the Ultra's will make one if I pay for it???

How much are they to make in fabric???

On Keys&Gray (TalkSPORT) about half an hour ago, Coleman agreed to the suggestion of allowing Tranmere a goal start, at the rescheduled game. Interesting.
That is the right thing to do and a good gesture from Coley/Club!!!!

From what Coley said on Talk Sport today im 100% sure they will be given a 1-0 start at the re-arranged game.

So glad to hear he's out of hospital, just a note of a mention (I'm sure one of many) I sent into football365 in response to someone questioning whether the abandonment would have happened in the Premier League, I hasten to add I think everything was done exactly as it should have been last night, just thought it might be of interest.

Good e-mail, I presume it was you??

Did not sleep very well last night thinking that young Tom had come up from Colchester and suffered a possibly very serious injury for our cause.

I am greatly relieved to hear that he is on the mend and hope he makes a swift and full recovery so he can progress with what should be a very successful career.

He seems to have good ability and the right attitude.
