His real name is Bernard Schwartz he changed it to Curtis to make him sound more American. His parents were Hungarian and he only spoke that language till he was 5 or so - apparently.

Lauren Bacall was born Betty Joan Perske her parents were also Jewish Immigrants according to Wikipedia.

I thought that being Jewish meant you followed the religion? I don't know if Kirk Douglas was a practicing Jew, but you never know.

I think you'll find most American actors have close migrant roots.

Off the top of my head I can't think of many Native American Hollywood stars.
