Truly Thankful.

It has been reported today that Bill and Melinda Gates are to divorce.
I bet that gave divorce lawyers on that side of the pond, a warm and fuzzy glow.
They have said that they feel that they cannot ‘grow’ together anymore. I am not exactly sure what that means.

Does it mean that she can no longer face picking his toe nail clippings off the carpet...?.of course not...I cannot see her doing her own cleaning...it will be someone else who scrubs the skiddies out of his undies.
Is he fed up of her wine o clock habit....or her high maintenance lifestyle?
After all he is not short of a dollar or two.

They have been married for 27 years and have three grown up children.

Any relationship split is sad, but it happens....and it is probably better to go your separate ways than live a life that is diminished by tensions inside a marriage.

It has also been reported that their children are only going to get minuscule inheritance from their parents.
Now to me, minuscule means just that....half a crown....oh sorry...twenty pence then in decimal terms.
That would be minuscule when you consider the vast wealth of the Gates.
Thief idea of a minuscule inheritance is ten million dollars.....now, couldn’t you just live a very pleasant life on a sum like that.

Ah well, for the rest of us life goes on in the same old way....and for that I can say I am truly thankful.

I am also thankful that life goes on in the same old way, and hope mine continues to do so for a while yet.

Wonder what it's like to be able to do or buy anything at any time. Could be a mite boring after a while - not much fun in it. I think a person in that situation could become a bit blasé about it all. Doesn't seem that having wealth brings complete satisfaction and/or happiness, otherwise they wouldn't be getting a divorce.

Still to give the Gates their due they do spread their money around to some extent making it do some good. I might tell my children that they can expect 10 million each when I expire - well they can expect it but they ain't going to get it.

i reckon hes spotted a younger model thats usually the way it is, the slimey get will do it discreetly if it is,

I am not sure that being so rich is a good thing.
Those who are this rich can give freely and it does not create any hardship for them.
The people I admire are those who have little, but give much.
Whether that be their time, expertise or money.

I have very mixed feeling about Bill and Melinda Gates.
Much of their charity donations are such that they ensure that money flows back into their own coffers.

Which makes more sense.....providing clean water to thisrd world countries or encouraging vaccination that protect against water borne diseases?
Knowing that Bill and Melinda are very heavily involved im Big Pharma, the World Economic forum and the World Health (or should that read wealth?) Organisation. has to create some questions about their form of charity.

It is well known that Gates is a proponent of a reduction in the world population(and yes the population explosion is implicated in climate change...if you believe that stuff)....vaccinationg children in the third world could be his way of doing this(yes...I know that I am a cynical old baggage)
