Ups and downs.

Mum has been on holiday this week. It's her last holiday until next Spring Bank. We had planned to fly away somewhere warm, but because Aunt Ros was so ill we decided not to book anything, then it was too late.

We did think of going away for a few days in the UK, but then my appointment with Dr. Grump came through bang in the middle, so that idea sort of fizzled out as well.

Yesterday we decided we would go out for lunch. I'd started my double drugs dose, as well as the new ones to help me sleep better, but felt ok so I drove us to Clitheroe.

The sun was out, and it was a beautiful late summer's day. We parked and headed for our favourite pub for lunch. Last time we went it was packed out, but this was nice and quiet and we got a table easily. We both sat at the same side of the table facing the bar, not because we weren't speaking, just so we could both be nosey. There were a few couples in, and a pair of posh looking gays looking at property details whilst they waited for their food, then 'they' came in.

He was little, she was big. He was from Lancashire, she was not. She changed from one designer outfit to another in the toilet on entering the pub, he did not. She wasn't pretty, neither was he.

They must have been regulars, as the landlady made a big fuss of them. They obviously had a fair bit of money, we later found out they had a shop in the town. We listened as she told everyone within earshot how she'd cut his nails for their holidays on Saturday, and how she'd trimmed the hairs on the back of his neck and back with those little shavers you can buy to do your nostrils.

Mum and myself started with the giggles. By the time this lady started showing the bar staff how to do bust improving exercises we were in fits. They turned round and appologised, and we ended up talking to them for the next half an hour, talk about fun people. Real fun, but the sort of people that put you off ever going on a cruise in case they latch on to you, and there's no escape. When we left they both gave us hugs, and told us to come and see them in there any Saturday evening, as they also are a whizz on the karaoke.

We did some shopping after lunch. Two new sweaters for me, a couple of game pies, and a whole load of the best dry cured bacon in Lancashire. We sat outside a cafe in the sun afterwards. Mum saw one of her friends she hadn't seen for ages and they chatted away happily.

All of a sudden I went from feeling fine/normal to a feeling of drunkness. The whole of my right side went into shaky mode, in fact I felt awful. Mum linked my arm and we made our way back to the car. By the time we got there I'd stopped shaking, and was walking better.

We sat in the car. I wouldn't have driven back if I didn't feel safe to do so. I was really upset though. The day before the meeting with the doctor had left me feeling really positive. Now I was really cheesed off wondering how much longer I will be able to drive, or the point of having a car, if I'd always be worried about how I was going to drive back from somewhere if I took bad.
We did get back safely, though I'm sure we were both very relieved .

It was a fantastic day, and I'm not despondent, perhaps it was just a blip because of the doubling of the drugs.

Onwards and upwards.

sounds like a lovely day, remember the fun outweighs the blips and stay positive. If you feel uncomfortable driving then you could always employ me as a full time chauffeur, I'm a good driver as you well know!!! :) ;)

Garinda.....couldn't your Mum take some sick leave.....on acount of losing her much loved sister......and the two of you could jet off somewhere nice and sunny.
Give it time for your new meds to stabilise. Glad to hear that most of the day was FUN!

Sounds like you had a fun day. The blip is probably your body's way of getting used to new meds. If you ever need a lift anywhere, you could always give us a call. I know it's not ideal trying to shoehorn yourself into my little car, but it might give me a laugh....:-)

Just PM'd you my mobile in case you ever get stuck somewhere and need a lift.
