Seems that I'm rattling a few cages and making people nervous. I've had two warnings over the last few days that had this distinct undertone of threats.
First one, a supposedly friendly warning that 'they'll dig up all the dirt about me' in the election battle. Well, bring it on, what dirt do you think there is - no drugs, no battles with alcohol, no affairs, no misappropriation of funds, no arrests - oh, I know, let's talk public art? I'd love to see them try and use that to fight a ward in Oswaldtwistle - no one in Oswaldtwistle could even see the thing even if they didn't (or even if they did) want it! Plus, the BNP will no doubt go in on that vote, so if it's the worst the Conservatives have got against me they'll find that the BNP splits their vote. So I'm not worried, but all the same it wasn't nice to have a 'threat' in this way, and yes, it was the way it was said that made it sound threatening. I'm planning on fighting a campaign on policies, and I hope that my opponent will do the same.
The other I'm taking a little more seriously. A phone call at work from an Officer of HBC warning my boss to be very careful about my activities in the run up to the election as it won't look very good. Well, for a start, it's no secret that I have a job. Apparently in the run up to an election there is an embargo on certain activities that can be misconstrued - so I'll just be prepared to pass on my apologies to a few meetings for a month or so but I'm certainly not stopping at the moment. I have a job to do and I will continue to do it. I'll probably take a couple of weeks of in April anyway to campaign so it will work out right for everyone!
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a warning for me to stop posting on this site at some point! I can't see how they could rationalise that this is illegal but I'm sure they're working on it as I write!
