weather??

dont think this question applies to me :D though I once saw snow on Mt. Diabalo a few years back , and think we average frost on about 3 nights per year :D

So a cheap plastic snow shovel from Wal Mart will probably do it:D

Back in New England they could clean the streets and open school the next day almost regardless of the amount of snow.

Down here in Virginia, we get a dusting or a bit of sleet and they call in the National Guard. And don't even think of getting into town if you happen to get behind Aunt Harriet or Grampa Joe. The people down here creep along perfectly cleared roads merely because there is snow on the SIDES of the road.

Its been snowing & sleeting for a good half hour or so  bbc local weather was right for once LOL.

Ok who sent the snow here???

The weather saturday panther is likely to be rain/snow/sleet and bags of wind to blow it around! lol

Went out for a pint last night and met a guy from Florida who said he was going stay in a hotel until the snow went away. No way he would drive in it. I suggested that he might want to take out citizenship and buy a house here because the snow might not go away until late March next year ... and this was a snowfall that didn't even slow down traffic in the city. Apart from a bad truck accident on the 401 there was only the usual number of weekend fender benders on city streets.

And for all you wimps across the pond, it is a balmy -15c (wind chill probably has it at -20; but it has warmed up since this morning. It is getting to the time of the year that Canadians think about wearing a warm sweater when they barbeque. But it is fun to go down to the outdoor rink behind City Hall and skate for a while ... there is alway a hot dog vendor on hand .... and see all the little kids bundled up in their snow suits skating away like Wayne Gretzky.

Do we ever have a blizzard happening! 15cm tonight with another 20 to 25 tomorrow, winds gusting to 60k. Doesn't get much better than this.

it snowed yesterday, it was about 11.15 am when i was walking down into Accy from my mates house, it was only very slight and didnt last long but it was definately snow..(or was that just the mist of my spinning head from the night before) :D

Probably the latter:D We had lots of snow over the weekend; yesterday the 401, the major freeway in this country was shut down, the OPP would not allow anyone on it until the snow had stopped and the highway plows had been through. These plows are as big as a house and travel down the highway at 100 kph. I am just about to shovel out my driveway for the third time in two days ... keeping ahead of the snow is the only way to do it. It's nice and still today, and sunny but cool (about -10), and you can hear the snowplows all over the city, getting things back to normal.

We haven't had it that bad here since 1947, when I recall watching my dad dig a way to the 'long drop' at the bottom of the backyard. It was as deep as a door is high

i remember it being bad around 1994 in accy, havent been that bad since though i dont think, the snow was that deep people where using shovels to get their car out!!

ooo i love the sound of it when ya walk on it.......i hope we have a white xmas.......and pigs will fly:(

had to turn the heat on last night for a couple of hours , will probably boost my gas/electric bill up to about $40 (£ 20) this month, hate this cold weather , having to wear long pants and socks ;) ;)

Sounds brutal ... I hope your cold spell doesn't last ... probably a run on sweaters at the local Wal Mart:eek: Just heard on the news that Montreal should be all dug out and back to normal within a week. I hate to think what will happen when winter arrives:(

Well, I'm all dug out. And just in time for .... guess what? .... more snow over the next four days!
