weather??

I'm thinking maybe its a reference to gas tar bubbles , years back when the tar would bubble up around the cobble stones during hot weather and the kids would 'pop' them ;)

Could be ... I remember doing that, but I don't remember the term .... still:confused:

Happen she's not from Accrington and area originally , you know how foreigners talk 'funny' and have different names for things :D :D

Never thought of that .... maybe she is from out in the boonies, Hapton perhaps:D ... or 3 klicks south of East Bejesus!

lol yes your right, and i am a foreigner, from Eccles, Manchester originally but in Helmshore now.
We used to come in as children covered in pitch when it was hot. It was impossible to get off our socks, cardies fingers, hair, it was disgusting stuff lol.

Something else we used to be covered in in summertime as well was stickybobs. Does anybody remember those?
We would play in the fields, and it was a seed that curled up into a little ball and would stick to anything, little spikey things they were and impossible to get off, we used to throw them at each other and if one landed in your hair you had to wait till you got home so your mum could comb it out! You dont see them anymore, unless its coz im a grown up now and dont play out lol

Stickybobs are still with us.They are alive and well - Growing by a stream in the Trough of Bowland.:alright:

Yahhhhh!!!! Three cheers for stickybobs!!! something thats not been killed off by developement!
Arethey the tiny ones or the ones that are about half an inch when they are curled up?

The Eccles Cake shop, the original one, is opposite the Norman Church on Church Street, its a lovely little church. There is a floral graden in remembrance of Diana just outside it now. The eccles cake shop is a deli. The name Eccles is derived from Eclesiastic, so when you have an eccles cake, you better say a prayer! lol

surprise surprise we have rain YET AGAIN, was out on my bike again this afternoon, had a ride to Rishton and back, i thought it was going to pour down at one point but luckily we managed to avoid it, doesnt look like we will be riding anywhere for the next few days, its supposed to rain till Tuesday :(

This weather is really starting to pee me off!!, my house looks like a ruddy laundrette with all the washing:(

After a week of stormy unsettled weather, we a settling in for a spell of warm (25c) clear, sunny days, with cool clear nights. Great late summer weather, and a bonus for local farmers who will soon have to get the harvest in. And great weather for the annual Limestone City Blues Festival with Watermelon Slim, and the C.O.R.K. regatta .... This part of Lake Ontario offers some of the finest sailing conditions in the world.

Damn; I love where I live:D:D:D

Raining cats and dogs again (aka stair rods) :(
One good outcome - I haven't used a carwash in months :)
always look on the bright side of life

You can all hate me for this; but the weather here is great ... beautiful, clear, sunny days, cooling off nicely at night. And it looks like this will hold for a few days ... the only nasty thing in the near future is that US tropical storm ... even this far north we feel some of the effects.

its been quite a bright afternoon in Blackburn Eric, went for another bike ride to Asda earlier and it was lovely, its gone really cold now though

No,once again it's room temperature due to our heating being on all so called summer, just to dry the washing.:mad:Bring on you're price hikes i don't care so long as my smalls are aired:D

If the days are nice, the cool nites don't bother me ... last nite was cool and clear, the stars were out in force and the moon was bright. I sat out on my deck, with a bottle of wine, and my telescope, plugged in my walkman, and had a great old time. Damnit, I love where I live;):D:D
