I told you to watch this space as my computer was doing the ‘diagnostics dance’.
I spent hours yesterday with the thing...fiddling, trying everything I know...which admittedly is not a lot.
As I went to bed last night I had to tell myself that the efforts to raise Lazarus...my computer, were at an end.
I had to admit that I had run out of road....unplug the damn thing and call it a day.
If I say I am disappointed, well...that doesn’t quite cover it.
I felt squashed like a fly....but hey ho sometimes things fall apart so that when they are put back together they are better.
My other half doesn’t ‘get it’.
He thinks that getting a new computer...or in my case a fresh computer(it will be a refurbed model) is like getting in a new car...you get in and drive off.
No amount of explaining gets him to realise that it takes time to get a fresh computer how you want it.
It is like breaking in a new pair of shoes....sometimes they nip, sometimes the pinch and nearly always they make blisters.
He said on Thursday...’just get a new one...treat yourself’
He said ‘if one of the children came over and told you their computer was broken, you would have one ordered, paid for and delivered before they could say Jack Robinson’
Yes...that is true.
And it is not about the money.....it is about the imbuggerance.
There will be a ceremonial disconnecting of the wires and cable sometime today....and there may be a lot of ‘under the breath ‘ muttering and mild expletives while I am doing this.
Not too sure if I will take the dead computer to have a hard drive transplant or whether it will be sent to the tip......will give that some thought while I am looking at refurbished ones.
