Wetherspoons

Went in on Saturday afternoon with a fellow councillor and we were very impressed with everything, from the decor to the choice of ales on offer. The beer garden is also very well renovated and it is impossible to forget that you are in a Lancashire town surrounded by the brickwork of back alleyways and other shops.

Top marks, general consensus is that it's a very very good thing and from what I saw I heartily agree.
Out on the razz with Peter were ya Ken:rolleyes::D

I am going to have a look in this week, were meant to go last Friday but t'other half wasnt feeling well.
Will let you know how my hangover was! ;)

its ok saying the building work looks good but what are the things like you go in there for ?
Beer prices and food prices soft drink prices?

Kronenbourg is 20p more than the Queens. Coke is expensive at £1.60 a half pint but pay another 20p and you get a full pint.
Four of us went in for a meal at Monday lunchtime. Four meals (one was a starter), one Kronenbourg, two grapefruit and soda and a large coke. The food was quite good and the total cost was pence over £16. Not bad as far as we were concerned. Also noticed plenty of choice on local draft
beers.
The place was pretty full and that was after 1.00 pm.

just curious , do you have to pay for your food when you order it or at the end of the meal ?

Pay as you order - same in quite a few places in Accrington and other towns. Imposta, Annie's, Costa, the Market Hall cafes and of course McD and the like.

Won't argue for 5p Cashy, could well have been £1.65 & £1.85:) I was only really concerned with the Kronenbourg and quite happy to pay extra on that as it is a long walk to the Queen's from the town centre:D

there are some people that it won't suit....but there are some who will find it fits the bill in certain circumstances........Having a hot drink while waiting for an evening bus........there is nowhere open to get refreshments in Accrington Town centre if you happen to be there after 6pm.

Tealeaf doesn't like the chain, he has said so, many times...but he won't be press ganged into the place.....and for those who like it then what is the problem?
Live and let live.
If Wetherspoons provide a decent service then they will survive...if they don't then they won't stay........and that fine building will probably fall into ruin.

i like the one in grangemouth ... it has a lovely chandelier and the organ pipes from when it was a church ...

Went past a lunchtime seemed to be plenty in, was also going to call in the research centre, but they're knocking the place to pieces
