Why?

When i was younger and lived at home i was never allowed to eat my eggs until after church on Easter Sunday. Even now i won't let any Easter eggs be eaten until Easter Sunday. Kids moan, but tough.

I was surprised my egg lasted till good Friday, it was given to me 2 weeks before!

When do you stop eating Easter Eggs?

Last year my granddaughter got so many she was still eating them in July - she's only allowed a limited amount of chocolate a day. In October I found one lurking on top of a kitchen wall-cupboard. I had a look at it and the chocolate was all, sort of, filmy so I chucked it in the bin.

This year her mum pleaded with everyone not to buy her eggs so she got the money or presents instead - but she still got 4 of them and 2 chocolate rabbits. Sadly, no one bought her a dark chocolate one. If they had, I could have helped to save her teeth and prevent obesity - but I hate milk chocolate.

My daughter still has 3 left plus 4 cadbury's creme eggs and some mini eggs, I limit her, then pig out when she's in bed:D

I got 2 - was was eaten on good friday/easter saturday and the other was eaten on Easter Sunday.

well this thread has taught me a bit ...

as for the eggs we have always saved them until the sunday but only because we followed tradition , although i made my lot make them last for a few days after easter lol..

me personally always treat it as a day to have all the family round for a meal where poss

Willow we were taught that Friday was the day of the Crucifixion and not day one. Saturday was day one, Easter Sunday we were given an hard boiled egg and a small chocolate egg in a little paper basket to take home and were always told NOT to eat it until Easter Monday. Day 3.
If this wasn't the case then why would we have Easter Monday?
I just naturally assumed that everyone ate their eggs on the Monday, but you live and learn.
Most people nowadays just assume the egg thing is to do with the Easter bunny.

i bought 6 bags of cadburys mini eggs from tesco,s yesterday ..half price,,, i cant resist a bargain

why would we have Easter Monday?

It's a Bank Holiday, not a Christian festival. Up to 1870 it was just an ordinary working day like any other and it has no significance whatever in the religious calendar.

As a child it used to surprise me that shops were open on Good Friday but closed on Easter Monday. I thought they should have been closed on the Friday out of respect.

I'm sure that at one time they did close, and the only thing open was the fish market...and that was only open until dinner time. But times change and everyone seems to worship at the shrine of commercialism now.

I can't decide if Cadburys creme eggs are getting smaller or if my gob is getting bigger

you should buy them on the monday after easter there half price so you can have more yum yum!!
