Councils all over the country are lining up to offer homes to people fleeing from Afghanistan.
How laudable of them....none of these councils, it seems has any homeless people on their streets...and it seems they have enough affordable housing with some to spare.
Why does the UK step into every crisis in the world?
Digging into funds for donations....offering homes and all the other things that these Afghanis are going to need...money to pay the bills, education for their children and medical care for their sick.
How many of us have struggled during the current situation to get these things.
The things we have paid our taxes for.
Yet these in-comers an arrive here and get their needs met fully.
Yes, yes they have experienced things that are inhumane...but these are being perpetrated by their own people....with the same Muslim ideology.
So tell me....why should it be our problem to solve?
All this makes me sound uncaring and uncharitable.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
There are countries nearer to Afghanistan where these refugees would be better placed.
Countries who share the same Muslim ideology
Saudi is a very rich country, with a strong Muslim background.
India too....has a similar ideology.....so why can these Afghanis not be homed there
Might it(dare I say it) be due to our communities being seen as a soft touch....and our benefits be a magnet to them....how un PC I am.
How very in-woke...but it is the thing that springs to MY mind.
These refugees will arrive here...find our western way of living distasteful and the next news is that they will be radicalised and then pose a threat to our safety and security.
It has happened in the past....and we are asking for it to happen again.
Afghanistan has been in conflict periodically since 1839....there have been multiple factions that have tried to bring peace and stability to the area.
(There were three wars involving the Uk up to 1919...all relating to the borders with India)
All of these efforts have not just failed, but young men and women have lost lives, limbs and livelihoods in the attempt to bring peace.
Afghanistan’s people are tribal....they do not wish to have democracy that is in the western style.
It is time we realised this and left them to it.
But that will not happen, because the dusty lessons of the history lie, unlearned in the ruins of the attempts over the years!
