Winter Olympics

Am I the only one who finds risking injury and death by way of sport, to be no 'fun' at all?

Too many sportsmen are addicted to their 'adrenaline highs', obtained when they expose their bodies to high risk.

There are some sports with no risk eg golf.
Can't see the point of that either. A brisk walk would have the same physical benefits.
Probably not but yer in a definate minority i reckon.

Canada will shut down at 7:30 pm EST as Canada and the US take to the ice .... it will be a barn burner of a game ... America and Russia? I don't be thinking so .... of the top 10 point getters in the NHL, 6 are Canadian .... But tonight's game will be great .... blood on the ice :theband: (And that doesn't mean there will be a demonstration of baby seal bashing at the end of the first period) .... It's our game, played on our ice; and I'm hoping that both the men and the women win gold.

Did you enjoy the ice hockey last night Eric? :D:D:D well this morning our time .. i watched some of the second period and the whole of the third .. where was the blood .. didnt see any of it .. :D:D:D

A frustrating game ... and, with no thought of sour grapes, the more talented team lost .... shots on goal! But I have to admit, the net minder for the US was outstanding, while Martin Brodeur sucked:mad: But I'll stick with my prediction that talent will out in the end, and Canada will take the gold.

did you not watch the snowboard cross granny c .. that was good .. i think it was the same course the ski cross was ... watching the curlers at the minute .. GB v Sweden theyre playing for a place in the semi finals ... 6-6 at the moment in the last end.

I see Canada got through to the quarter finals in the ice hockey Eric ... theres a chance yet for them ...:D:D:D

Canada 7 Russia 3 .... what a game .... the Candians finally went back to the body and blew the Russians out of the game ... and the intensity of the game .... fantastic .... and Canada won gold and silver in the womens' bobsleigh .... what a day:mosher:

And Cheryl Bernard is in the womens' curling finals against Sweden who crushed China to get to the final ...

And tonight the womens' hockey team goes up against the US for the gold ... And it looks like most of our medals have been won by our women .... way to go girls:mosher:

And I read in the local rag this morning that snow isn't the only thing in short supply in Vancouver .... the athletes' villages are quickly running out of condoms:eek::eek::eek: And who said that Canada couldn't throw a party:theband:

I have watched some ice dancing on Youtube.
The canadian couple who won gold were quite spectacular doing flamenco - as good as Torville and Dean were doing Ravels Bolero.

The rest of the 'snow sports' just leave me cold ;)

Can't agree with the last part .... but the ice dancing was great ... and it was a special gold medal as Tessa and Scott are the first North American pair to win the gold, and the youngest. They were in the stands, wearing their medals, watching Canada obliterate Russia last night ... even the line with Ovechkin and Malkin couldn't get anything going.

Women's hockey .... game over .... Canada 2 United States 0 and this is the third straight Olympic gold medal .... Jayna Hefford of Kingston played stand out hockey:theband:

Just watching the news .... the IOC is po'd at the Canadian womens' hockey team had a wild party after winning the gold ... after everyone had left the arena, the girls took the party out onto the ice, drinking beer and champagne and smoking cigars .... way to go girls .... real Canadian women play hockey, drink champagne right out of the bottle, and smoke .... :alright::cheers: People interviewed on the streets of Kingston think that the IOC should lighten up ... they won the gold, damn right they can party ... let's hear for the Canadian women:mosher:

Yup ... there was one non-Canadian idiot interviewed on the streets of Van who asked, rhetorically I suppose, what kind of role models these women are for the girls and young women of Canada ... didn't take me long to figure out that they provide fantastic role models .... not only for Canadian women, but for women all over the world ... I saw Jayna Hefford of Kingston, after winning her third gold medal, slugging back a bottle of Molson Canadian .... way to go Jayna:theband:
