Please don't say things like that! I have a very delicate stomach:( lol

I venture in now & again but rarely buy 'owt.Always seems to be mobbed at the checkouts when i go in.Although the checkout situation is just as bad i'd sooner mooch round Wilkos.Just for the ambience of the place:rolleyes:

Im with Emzy on this one- i go in n buy toys, clothes, confectionary and household stuff.NOt all the time but for branded things its good.I hope it doesn't go :(

I think I've asked before but can't be bothered looking, does that mean the Co-Op took over from Woolworths ?
Was the Co-Op not where Redmans was? Not sure myself now, can only remember about Redmans because I used to do errands for an old lady who was very particular where you went for her food. Redmans was one shop she insisted on and Catlows was another.

The Co-op was definatley what became Mcdonalds. I vaguley recall a shop next door but can't remember if it was Redmans, for some reason I seem to recall Dewhurst butchers being there ?

Woolies was on the corner of Dutton Street and Blackburn Road, then after they moved out in 1961 to the (then) new shops on Broadway, it became the Co-op. More recently it became Macdonalds and then a restaurant. Dewhursts was further along the block towards Church Street. Redmans was on the next block, opposite the Town Hall at the St James Street corner.

Ya Wynonie Redmans with the Elite Snooker Club over the top what a den of iniquity that was, where I misspent my youth:D

Me too, mate. A few quick games with various dubious characters, then up the street to the Derby for a pint.

Thread wander?...moi?

Redmans was exactly were ya said n next door was Redmans Cafe, which was a long narrow effort.;) but seperate from the shop.

I still can't recall Redmans being there. When did it close down. Was about early 80's when I worked at Co-op.

I remember Redmans in Nelson though :D
