Woolworth's

I still can't recall Redmans being there. When did it close down. Was about early 80's when I worked at Co-op.

I remember Redmans in Nelson though :D
can't remember dave, but think it was a bit before that, was a motorist discount place in 80s i think.:)

I remember(but only just) Redmans, it was what became the motorists shop and the cafe was next to it.

Me too, mate. A few quick games with various dubious characters, then up the street to the Derby for a pint.

Thread wander?...moi?
Ted Green was the Landlord, had a very nice daughter I seem to remember, went to a few do's in the back room there, a bit better watering hole then than it is now;)

Before my time. It was a Scottish guy called Ian when I used to go in (circa 1968-72). Went in for a quick pint a few weeks ago, before I went into the library for the Stanley exhibiton - totally unrecognisable from the pub it once was.

Can remember that tosh, Les did go out with her for a while, been racking my brains but can't for the life in me remember her name

BBC NEWS | Business | Woolworths set for administration

There you go ..........

I bought my first single at woolies ... aint saying what it was either!!!! I still do have it as well.
well they always used to sell singles on the "Embassy" label, which were "Crap" covers of original hits, so not suprised ya won't say.:D,sadly though Woolys n MFI are the junk end of the market, so not suprised they have gone into admin, sorry fer the 30.000 employed by them, but fear this is only the start, more will follow.:( the two n half % reduction in VAT looks very sick in this light.

You're right there cashman, I used to work at Motorist Discount Centre in the early eighties. The old ovens from From Redman's were still in the back of the shop. We still used to get old biddies coming in asking for a pound of streaky and a quarter of roast ham. (Probably jaysay wanting to relive the days of his youth.);)

Long time since I was called a cheeky young pup. Another nine years and I will be over sixty.:D:D

I noticed MK One is empty today despite some of the new stores being bought out from going in to administration last week. Guess Accy didn't appeal to the buyers, wonder if they will take the same view with Woolworths
