Yet another PR disaster?

I hate to pile on yet more doom and gloom, but has anyone seen page 13 of this eves Observer?

Head Line reads:- Sponsor slams Stanley chief.

It then goes on to report that the guy from Buy-The-House who has sponsored the Sports Bar for the next three years is not very happy.

On top of all the negative PR we've had recently, it doesn't make for happy reading :(

Sorry couldnt find a web link.

Will do Pete and thanks..crunch game is the following Sat against a team that did us 7-1 last year...

Could the guy be just a whinger who would have a pop even if he was run over by a bus and came up clutching a gold nugget he found?? I've come accross many like that in my years-just can't please them no matter what..

I doubt it, apparently He OWNS The afore mentioned Estate Agents.

I still cant find a link but will try to scan the article if I can.

the thing is he wont be a happy chappy at the moment anyway with the biggest housing crash ever on the horizon and soon to be in negative equity with all their property...

Just read the article - can see where the guy is coming from, & re-itterates what most of us said about the april fools bad publicity ................mmmmmmm that really worked didnt it:rolleyes:

Now reaping what they sown.

Seems the club could do with a little help in the PR dpartment, wonder what Gerald Ratner's doing?

Is that 'PR'....the 'Post Rectal' one Oggy ?, because that's where all this
reported garbage seems to be flowing from !!.. and the lingering aroma isn't
doing anyone at the FES any favours whatsoever!!.

'WHAT ME WORRY ?'..when I see people who should know better with bulletholes in both feet.....I certainly DO !!!

Mr Swinn has every right to air his views on Eric's comments regarding lack of support in the town, just as the rest of us have done. However, I would have thought that he would have been better advised to talk to the club about issues such as lack of complementary tickets, non-invitations to launch evenings etc, rather than complaining to the press. If his concerns had been ignored by the club, then that would have been the time to go public.

I'm afraid some of this may just land at my feet, I set up the deal in order to try and improve the lounge for everyone. I think the right thing to do would be to set a few things straight.

I know the owners quite well and although this isn't helpful as a statement for the club, I felt at the time that the deal was strong enough in their favour not to really include the contra deals that Mr Swinn has mentioned. Without posting details of the package for which I'm sure you will appreciate why. I now believe the deal was weighted well at that time in the favour of the sponsor.

I would expect any club to be able to go to a main sponsor for support on these instances and can name a multitude of companies who would help the club in any circumstances, Greyhound Ford, Sagar Insurance and Sovereign are fine examples.

If a sponsor wanted to talk about promotions and efforts to raise the profile and the club dont communicate then thats a different matter. But I know from conversations with Buy the House recently that they have a good relationship with Rob Heys, as to this story, I'm not to sure where it has come from or why? Just don't knock the club without evidence on this one guys. One thing that people realise quickly is that the club have a power of loyalty and it's indeed a brave move to criticise the club on it's doorstep. I would have thought the housing market is weak enough without losing hundreds of potential customers?

Fair point Oggy, agreed, but this is a seperate incident and without knowing the details, I'm sure Stanley could wage a counter arguement, but Rob has taken a very diplomatic view with his quote and should be commended for it.
