E·ON’s Creative Accounting. |

For the third quarter in succession I have had to get in touch with E·ON to ask why the bill did not contain any information on how to calculate the quantity of “Primary” units for that quarter and subsequently determine the number of “Secondary” units. On the previous two occasions E·ON promised that this omission would be corrected. So much for promises!
Prior to privatisation of the energy companies, each quarter was 91 days with one quarter at 92 days. During Leap years there were two 92 days quarters, although the “Primary” units were always the same.... [Read More]

Willow's tangent thread - Hemp |
|
Sep 05, 2008 - 3:33 PM - by WillowTheWhisp

This thread is a tangent from the "aaargh it's drugs!/ oh no it isn't" subject elsewhere which has now been done to death.
Somebody mentioned hemp seeds being on sale on Accy market and there's the misconception that hemp=cannabis=drugs. I didn't know what the druggy ingredient in the drug was until someone mentioned it and so I started to do a bit of a Google of hemp in general and discovered some interesting things.
For instance in 1971 growing hemp of any variety in this country became illegal, even if the hemp you grew couldn't be used as a drug. That's a bit like banning the growing of all poppies in gardens because some... [Read More]

my past jobs consisted of care work, waitressing and a lot of voluntary work at the community centre and at school.
i dont want to go back to care work, i want something different, something that suits me

Masterchef Cassie |

Surprised last night to see the chef at the Walton Arms whose name is Cassie appearing on Professional Master Chef (Mrs Silver had it on).I assume she still cooks there as a short while back she was in the Obby collecting awards for her culinary skills.Alas she only just missed out on going through to the next round due to her presentation of the dishes. Her cooking skills could not be faulted by the two judges, just that there was too much on the plate & not presented to Michelin standard(well, she is a lancashire lass & cooks in a pub).I think she worked the bar at the Bridge in Church several years back & has certainly come a long way since then.Unlucky Cassie, your presentation... If you fell out big time at work with your colleague(& supervisor),wich resulted in the supervisor having a complaint against them, then the said supervisor gave you a present & card on your birthday, would you (discreetly)tell them you appreciated the thought & cost but could'nt accept them or take them as though it was all water under the bridge? An attempt by supervisor to get complaint dropped, lets be pals(until it happens again, its happened before) or a genuine olive branch?Or do you think the worker was right to stick by their principles & sod the hurt feelings & more possible tension on the shop floor.I know the worker felt bad about returning the present but had to... Mopeds for Blackburn and Darwen traffic wardens |
|
Sep 05, 2008 - 11:22 AM - by Neil
|
From the Telegraph web site
Traffic wardens in Blackburn and Darwen have been given mopeds to ride around the borough.
What do you think about Hyndburn doing the same thing?
I have a couple of thoughts
1. I like how the moped in the picture is illegally parked on the yellow lines while he writes out a ticket.
2. I am not sure if they can enforce those yellow lines in the picture either as they are so badly worn.
Any thoughts on my points or others

What would you do if.
Your child came home from there first day back at school.
They came home with a bag given to them by a teacher.
When you looked in the bag you find it contained a tub of Pills (Medication) not belonging to anyone in your family.

Time Capsule |
|
Sep 05, 2008 - 10:00 AM - by flashytart
|
Reece brought a letter home from Rhyddings the other day asking him to bring in something that he could put in a Time Capsule, this item had to be personal but not of any value, it would be put into the Capsule along with some 'now' photo's of the kids and then re-opened the year they leave school.
I thought this was an excellent idea but didnt have a clue what i should send him to school with, Reece grew out of toys a couple of years ago, so i couldnt send him with a toy, he only ever plays with his playstation, i couldnt send him with that or his bike, but i then had a rather ingenius idea ... internet name calling - libel? |
|
Sep 05, 2008 - 4:33 AM - by mani
|
no no dont worry my beloved accywebbers no one has been calling me names
but if on a message board u get one member coming on - posting allegedly things that have occured in another members personal life
so if member one came on and said member 2 did this that and the other to one of his ex's etc
but member 2 denied it threatening to sue him for libel
so what are the chances of something like this actually reaching the court?
would it make a difference if member 2 was an admin/moderator hence able to change texts?
what sorta costs are involved in such a case?
