I've had my eyes over 76 years now and have no intention of deliberately ruining them by looking directly at the sun.
I have a variable density filter for my camera and started by setting at it maximum density and using the view finder on the camera to watch the eclipse.
I slowly turned the filter until it allowed enough light through without damaging my eye and also the very sensitive sensors in my camera.

And as the song says. " I can see clearly now". No cresent burnt into my retina.
You were warned.

Managed a couple through the occasional break in the clouds, be intersting to see some from Boeing Guy at 35,000 feet.

some good photos there, to early for me so didn't take any myself, but the standard is very good from those that did, well done.

I managed to get up as well, didn't have to leave the room though, just poked the lens through the bedroom window. A few shots then back between the sheets.
Rudely awakened by the door bell ringing but delighted to see the doctor man.
I think the problem davemac has with taking photos of the eclipse was it didn't involve crawling on his knees getting his gusset wet, is that right mate.

I think you mat have put your finger on it there, if its not wet you are not doing it right.

I didn't say I wasn't up, just it was to early for me, I had chores to do before I can think of playing out. Someone has to donkey stone the front step and fill up the scuttle with nutty slack.
