if they are doing it on geography should really say exeter to carlisle. when we get promoted people might actually wake up about stanley. bet hartlepool and stockport would swap places with a little lancashire club.

as long as we go up i would not mind exeter joining us. seem a well run club, play positive football with a good manager who does not live in fear of the sack if they loose a couple of games on the bounce.

Ever since Saturday I've been suffering from the most irritating earworm.
This strange song keeps repeating ad nauseum in my head day & night - it's driving me mad!
Can anyone help? Is there any cure? Have you heard it before?
It goes something like this -

'We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the league'

If anyone at the club knows the origin of this song, perhaps they could play it on Saturday so we can all sing along?

What a fantastic video - that's one of the best bits of media our club has ever produced, whoever is responsible should be very proud.

Genuinely quite moved by that interview. Wouldn't it be brilliant if the club made more like it and tried to document the clubs history since it was reformed up until present day.

Unfortunately as time goes on there will be less people around from that era, is really important we get their memories on record.

It was around the time that we first started watching Stanley but, reading this, it looks like John Alty doesn't get all the credit he deserves:
?Happy days? ? a look back at 1970s/80s ? Accrington Stanley

Mr T 26-05-2018 06:47

Re: Bits & Bobs

John Prescott and John Alty didn't get the credit they deserve for the effort they put in. John P stood aside to allow John A to be chairman. John P was a true "custodian" chairman, as he simply didn't have access to the finance to move the club forward's ( neither did anybody else!)

John Alty had the drive, had access to raise and borrow money ( mainly to improve the pitch) then improve the clubhouse so the club could improve income. Sadly John wanted instant success on the field which resulted in numerous late night Board meetings. The outcome of some was a cut in the managers budget and at the next one another sacking/ resignation!!
